Great job Patty! Thanks for posting it. I was looking for it this morning. You did a great job representing bandsters!

YEA PATTI

You represented us all well. Although some of us don't have to do the baby bites and chew until pulverized, you did a great job of communicating that this is not easy street. I was also touched how you were able to convey that "fat people are not jolly". Sure we have good days and laugh, but being trapped in an obese body is hell. Keep up the good work

Great video, Patty. Didn't you have a news report somewhere else, too? I seem to remember your story. You did a great job representing us.

Great job Patty. You expressed yourself really well and let people know the truth, it's definitely not the easy way out!

Hi Patty:

COngratulations to you!! On your huge success!! I watched the clip it is an amazing testimonial to what this surgery can bring back to us who have fought with obesity demon.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. I too lost a friend the week of my surgery who had the GB from C-Diff. I am so glad I chose the band it has changed my life already and I still have 114 pounds to go to reach my Goal!

But I know I can do this, I know that the energy that I have today I did not have 9 weeks ago and that will only continue to improve.

You look amazing and you sound like you look!! It is not an easy way out in no way! I was a part of a post here last week where someone was angry that I had posted that I only eat 3 ounce meals and no snacking and that I log everything I eat and even my exercise. She made the comment she did not get the band to have to watch everything she ate like being on a diet.

I am glad you brought out in your segment that this is still a process that requires you to monitor your food intake as well as what kinds of things you are placing into your pouch!!

WOO HOO to the BANDERS who have met their GOAL!! And to those on the WAY!!

Steph cn--CNN.com had an article about me a couple of months ago, that is where the producer found me. He read the piece about me and decided he wanted me for one of his weekly segments.

Steve in Kansas--He just got the electra glide in December....Its tough in Boston this time of year, roads are pretty icy, but he has managed to put 1000 mile on it. (we did take it out last night, a little crazy, lots of black ice, and I was wearing a mini skirt...:)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
