My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning and i am kind of confused because. I told my Doctor that I had a large hiatal hernia so, I was told that The first thing that they would do is put a greenfield filter inplace to prevent blot clots and I would also have an EGD to look at my Hernia before surgery.

I got to the hospital today and had the filter put into place but now the dr is saying that I don't need a EGD, That makes no sense to me because he was not the one to put the filter in and he has not even done an xray.

My question is why wouldn't the doctor do an EGD before surgery. I plan on voicing my concerns tomorrow, If he does not do an EGD, then there will be no surgery tomorrow and I will find a new doctor.

Does this make sense to anyone out there:confused:

I have had my lapband for about 3 yrs and lately have had chest pains, doctor put me in hospital. and they ruled out the heart , had endroscopy and that was alright. and did the upper GI with barium pill. showed the pill went down fine, but I have hiatal hernia which I knew but guess that is pushing the acid behind the heart causing pressure thus the pains. Anyhow now the gastro doctor is sending me back to my lapband doctor. I am worried that they may want the band out I DO NOT want it removed, have no problem with replacing it but do not want it gone..any suggestions. I am so frustrated. do not want to gain any weight back...please advise me...at Mammysm@aol.com I really need someone to talk with who can help me understand this...thx. Donna

My surgeon also performed my EGD about a month ago and found a hiatal hernia. He is going to repair it at the same time he does my lap-band.

You must be just having the lapband put in , I have had mine for some time. I wish you the best with it, wish that is what the doctor had done to me . they did at the time of the lapband repair an umblical hernia..maybe they can only do one at a time, not sure...
