I had surgery 12/28/04 and intially lost 13 pounds. I had my first fill of 1cc in a 4cc band on 2/1/05 and have since lost 2 pounds a week. I could probably do better if I would be more consistent with exercise, but I hate being out in the cold to walk. Sound like you already have a good routine going. Keep up the good work, the fills are a walk in the park! Keep up te good work and best of luck!

Julie, it is quite normal to experience no weight loss once you start back onto solids..do not fret. It took my body a little over a week to get used to it. It iwll happen again, the scale will start moving..Remember this is nota race but a journey, there is no hurry, also the band was designed to be inflated to work at it's best ability. The first 6 weeks is for healing any weight loss before your first fill is a bonus..once you get a fill you should notice a difference in your restriction and eating..If you feel you are eating too much , one way to determine this is to log onto fitday.com or to join our food Journal thread, there is something about seeing it on paper that makes you realize just how much or how little you are eating.Everybody's weight loss during this phase is so different. I was fortunate to not need a fill until 9 weekspost op and lost 20 lbs up until that time just from the restriction I had from the placement of the band..while others need a fill right at the 6 week mark and otherswho did not need one for months out..Hang in there , you are normal :D

I just got home from Tijuana and am officicially a bandster...YEA...Dr. Ortiz did my surgery. I cannot believe how easy the entire experience has been so far. I had to look under my covers to see if they actually did anything! I burp a lot though. Does this mean that I am drinking my tea or coffee too fast? Anyway thanks for all the support I wish I would have done this a lot sooner.

Tammy, the burping is the gas releasing most likely...be greatful you can burp. I was so swollen after surgery that burping was very painful

I'm happy to hear it all went well with Dr. Ortiz

I am a happy Ortiz patient myself...

Congratulations to you and best of luck with your new band :D

Hi Pat,

My weight loss is a combination of what I lost before the surgery, 15 pounds, and then after the surgery. I actually need to update again. Since I had my first fill on 1/16 I've lost some more, now putting me to a total of 41 pounds, 26 since the surgery. I'm sure the only reason I've lost more than you is because I have more to loss.

Good luck to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
