Are there any other newbies on Clear & Full Liquids

Hello everyone and let me start by thanking everyone for their posts. This site is what gave me the courage to opt for the banding.

I have read so many posts regarding the liquid stage of the diet but have yet to find anyone who is on a Clear and Full liquid diet like the one my doctor has me on. I do understand all the individual preferences the doctors follow but I am really looking for an ally :) I guess you could say. I started a Clear & Full Liquid Diet 2 days prior to surgery. I was banded January 9, 2008 at 7:30am and was home by 2:00pm and that included a 45 minute commute! Below is a sample of my diet:

Breakfast - 2 oz cream of wheat - 2 oz sugar-free blended yogurt -

2 oz diluted juice - 2 oz skim milk with no sugar-added Carnation Instant Breakfast

lunch - 3 oz strained low fat cream Soup - 3 oz sugar-free Gelatin -

2 oz skim milk - 1 scoop Protein powder

dinner - 2 oz strained cream soup (does not say low fat) - 2 oz sugar-free blended yogurt - 2 oz sugar-free gelatin - 1 scoop Protein Powder

No Caffeine or Carbonated beverages

Drink at least 64oz of Fluid per day to prevent dehydration

Since the diet consists of 24 oz of fluids above; I must get in 40 oz throughout the day by aiming for 1/2 cup of liquids every 30 minutes during waking hours.

Is there anyone out there whose diet is remotely close to mine? I almost forgot, maybe the reason he has me on this diet is because he does not believe in the pureed Stage and skips directly to the Soft food Stage.

Thanks Ky! I love this site I'm so glad to have all of you to talk to and share our experiences with each other! It's so nice to not feel like the only one that has just been "banded"!! Last night I had my first SMALL chocolate shake. I drank it in very small sips, it tasted so damn good that I drank a little more than half and then I got that VERY FULL FEELING!!! Wow!!! What a BIG MISTAKE!! Luckily I didn't throw up BUT it sure made me realize that I have a new stomach and it will definitely let me know me when it's had enough!!

hi i just got banded on 2/4/08. last night was the first time i actually was hungry.my doc told me to start pureed foods on 2/6 but i waited an extra day.i tried refried beans but it made me very uncomfortablely full.last night i made a salmon chowder and pureed it. it was delic, went down easy but i was hungry again a couple of hours later.any suggestions! also i'm alittle dizzy when i stand up. i called the doc on friday he said i was probably dehydrated and to drink as much gatorade as possible. that helped a little but i'm still alittle dizzy, did anyone else go through this! i have to go back to work tommorow, unfotunately.

Hi

I had my surgery on thur 2-7. I did 2 weeks optifast before and I am now on diet very similiar to yours. I also must ingest 2 tsp. of olive oil every day! Nasty. but I found a way that isnt quite so intolerable. Beef broth, lil seasoning and the oil. today I also added powdered milk to get some protien I am told I must do this to protect my gallbladder. We also were given a few recipes to boost protein let me know if you would like them. Good luck to you, I wish I was further down the road like you. I still have lots of stomache tenderness.

Hi Lily,

Okay -- we can be bandster sisters -- how's that?

The full weight (excuse the pun), of what I've done is starting to sink in. There are no more excuses and no more excuses and no more excuses. It's for real this time. And it's scary. Very scary. The liquid diet is wreaking havoc with my bowels -- for the first time I didn't sleep last night because I was too busy running to the bathroom. That's okay. It will be whatever it will be and this list is what's keeping me sane right now. How are you doing today?

Hi MP04,

I was banded on 2/4 too!

If you look on this site, you'll see a rather large thread that lists recipes for the different banding stages. If you're already on full liquids, you should be able to make a lot of what's on there. Perhaps some of those recipes will keep you feeling fuller. If worse comes to worse, get some Isopure (40 grams of protein), and drink a bottle. That should keep the hunger meanies at bay for at least a little while.

Hi Bonnie (aka bandster sister!) LOL!!

I just woke up from a nap. I sleep a lot! Do you? I lost another 2 lbs from yesterday. I'm surprised because I thought I would've either gained or not lost any since I started full liquids yesterday, I ate pudding and that dreaded chocolate shake that just about killed me! This morning I had a carnation instant Breakfast, I really like those! I think I'm going to have a yogurt for lunch. I'm not a huge fan of yogurt...do you have any suggestions on yummy fun flavors...like bannana cream pie or coconut cream pie? Maybe I'm just making those up. I haven't been going to the bathroom too much. Last night was my first since Thursday afternoon.

Lily

Good day. Just wanted to ask those of you who have been banded for awhile if you remember "feeling" the band post op??? I feel like it is sitting at the top of my chest and putting pressure on everything...not sure if this is normal...but sure I am not hungry!

Hungry...Not me. I am still struggling with the gas pains that the last thing I want is to put anything else in my mouth. Any advice on how to get relief?

Hey guys n gals

I am starting to feel hungry but I still fill up really quickly i gotta sip sip sip!!!!!! if I drink to fast i end up with indigestion.

Syndy I felt the same as you the first few days...I didnt throw up but it was because I was taking too much on at a time. I then started to take almost an hour to finish my lil cup of soup and that has helped relieve a bit of the pain. You have lots a wind in there as well that may not be sitting right and might not be helping with the throwing up. Take it easy hun we are all here with ya!!!
