Slow Losers Unite!

Thank you all. I do feel great. I have a long way to go but now when I go out people don't stare at me. I am just another heavy person. If I could just find a way to "enjoy" exercising it would be great.

Thanks again!

wishes 100+ lbs now lost is no small feat. Congratulations. You are on the downside of the mountain now. Is 179 you ultimate goal or is that an interim goal?

I had my own little victory today - found I can get back into my size 22 pants. From a 5X to a 22, slowly VERY SLOWLY, the weight is coming off - 1/2 lb per week on average. Sigh! someday I will make one hundred.

Hey Y'all! Well, thought I would join on here now. I am a slooooowww loser too. Even with a body bugg and exercising, my body is so freakin' stubborn; however, it confirms why I got the surgery in the first place.

In November, I went on 2 vacations and really thought I would lose weight..but no, not even 1 pound. In Scotland, I walked over 50 miles in 3 days and only ate about 1200-1400 calories/day. Then, I headed to Bora Bora, where I snorkled, walked and swam daily. NOT ONE LB LOST!

So, as you can tell by my ticker, I haven't lost much since August '07 and I think my restriction is fine. But, my Dr. wants me to come in next week anyways for a small fill.

I changed up my exercise routine last week and broke through the plateau. I lost over 5 lbs! I hope this continues! Looks like I have to really exercise to lose anything.

My friend got the lapband in July and has passed me up and never exercises. UGH!! I'm happy for her..just don't understand me. LOL

Good luck to y'all.

you look good! if not read your comment wrong you got banned a year ago and your down to 160 you've done a beautiful job i weight 272 and i want to get to 160 i too have a stubborn mule body so i understand any advise to me ? i got banned 05-05-08

:thumbup:thanks mzreeda. The only advice I can give you is boring. Stick religiously to your doctors orders on how much to eat and what. Make sure you chew, chew, chew your food and don't rush your fills and defills. Go slowly. To tight a fill can cause issue you don't want such as vomiting, slipped band, band erosion, etc. You have the rest of your life to lose your weight so on the advice of your doctor set goals for yourself. If you hit a plateu then try small fills not large ones so you gradually work up to a good restriction. Hope these h ints help but the journey is yours and you must make your map that suits you. Keep posting and you will get a lot of ideas from fellow bandsters.

I am at 5.5 cc out of a 10 cc band and I still vomit from time to time when I forget to chew. If you are excessively hungry make sure your Protein choices are hard protein such a chicken, beef, fish (preferrably). These Proteins take longer to chew and stay in the pouch longer than say Soup, or yogurt, etc.

Hey all!

I'm glad to see everyone's doing ok! And to those of you who don't think so, you really are if you realize that you need to get back on track!

16 days until the wedding! I'm so nervous  I so wish I could have lost that last 40 pounds before the wedding but, alas, it didn't happen. My fault, I know. Wanna hear a poor excuse? I'm under so much stress from the wedding planning and so forth....blah blah blah! Well, at least I can use that for a few more weeks...lol! Wish us luck! I will try and post pictures after the wedding as soon as I get a chance. Love to you all!!

Hello Everyone! I was just checking in on you all, glad to see everybody is doing well. I've been doing good as far as eating but I'm taking classes now so it's hard for me to get in my exercise with all the ripping and running but I'm trying to get back on my exercise routine today because when I exercise the scale really moves. Keep up the good work everybody and I'll be checking in.

Hi Doddie and MZREEDA,

Thanks sorry I didn't write back sooner I didn't get an e-mail that anyone had posted??

Anyway Doddie Once I get to 179 I will keep going if possible. It is just so very hard to me to believe I can even ever weigh 179. I have been very heavy all my life. The last time I can remember being under 200 pounds I was 189 and it was in high school. I am 46 and can't even imagine being under 200 so 179 still doesn't seem like it can happen. You are doing amazing! 5x to 22 is wonderful! And you are so close to the 200 mark WTG keep up the great work!.

Mz how are you feeling? How are you adjusting to your new life? Have you had a fill yet? I didn't get mine until 6 weeks after my surgery. Yesterday I had my 3rd fill. They didn't want to give me one but I knew I was ready for it by what I have been able to eat. They only fill 1/4 cc at a time. Hope you are feeling well. Let me know how you are doing?

I am a slow loser...I have only lost 40 lbs since July 07. I am really upset. When I eat something it either gets stuck and hurts and I drink warm Water to pass it through or throw up...or...I eat something and I feel it plop right through(which feels better)...I can't just eat a small amount and feel full, like I thought it was supposed to feel. I don't know if I should get a fill or get some of the liquid taken out of the band. It just hurts to eat if it dosen't pop right through...ohhhhh I am so confused to how I am supposed to feel when I eat...waaaa

Maybe you're eating it too fast? I know that no matter what I eat, if I eat it too fast and don't chew well it will be painful.

I am a slow loser but I tend to gain back easily and once I gain that pound I go into that vicious cycle of drowning my sorrows with bad food which leads to more weight gain. I talked to my Doc about this and he said to weigh myself every morning and if I gain ONE pound then to put myself on "Time Out" A Protein Shake for Breakfast, a SIMPLE salad for lunch and a Protein shake for dinner. And nothing else!

It definately works! The next morning not only have I lost the pound I gained but I lost ANOTHER! Woohoo. I'm glad to have found something that can nip the emotional eating in the bud. It stops it before it ever gets a chance to start. I feel like I'm actually starting to "heal" that connection between emotions and food.

Well, a typical day for me is an egg on toast for breakfast, and a sandwich for lunch and then some kind of meat and veggies for dinner.< /p>

Usually I eat way too fast. I am thinking that might be my trouble.

As for excercise, I swim every day and do alot of walking. But I bet I eat way too fast...hummm:confused:

i have a 10 cc band with 5cc in it now ...6cc was to much i could actually feel the band squeezing my stomach and it hurt ..icouldnt even drink Water ..so i think my restriction is ok .not everything i eat Cookies always go down fine:sad:

smsmithart: I have 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band also and have ample restriction. If you are having pain, you are not chewing enough. The natural chewing is approx. 12 bites before you swallow. So the trick is to take small bites and chew at least 20 times before swallowing. If you take normal bites, more than likely you are swallowing chunks too large to go thru the opening. Also, are you weighing your food. One cup of food is hard to eyeball with some. Me, for instance. I was having vomiting and pain every time I ate until my doctor told me weigh and measre my food and to take bites the size of a pea and chew it until it is liquid. then he told me to down my fork after 20 minutes and eat no more. The pouch will be full and so will you. No liquids with the meal to make the large chunks go down easier. The key is to chew.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
