Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

I was in the grocery store picking out Soups when my cell phone beeped me with a message. That was wonderful news about Kat. I'm so happy for her and Rick.

TracyinKS, what's going on? I know at the moment that the chocolate frosty seems like it will take care of everything but it win't so just put it down becaus e I guarantee you that after you eat it you will hate yourself for it. Get some gum or lifesavers.

I can hardly wait till tomorow evening. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to wear. I will be bringing my camera also. This is going to be so much fun.

I have to work in the morning than we are going to close the pool. I'm so sad but the Water temp is 68 degrees. Here's for an early warm spring.

Pam, that sounds so lovely. Can't wait to see the pics. I miss the sounds and the smell of the ocean. I don't miss the sand in my food though. Have a great time.

Tracy, Hope Macy gets to feeling better soon.

Have a great evening.

Thank goodness Kat's alright. Such good news!! I feel like I can breathe again!

Tracy - What's an IEP? I trust it's not something/someone you want to do often. I wanted a shake in the worst way yesterday, but the only thing that stopped me was the electric was out at the Dairy Queen. HA! The next stop I made, JIB, the line was 8 cars long!! I decided God was trying to tell me something. So I went home and had 2 glasses of wine instead.

Other Tracy - I'm fine except that I'm back at work now. Yuck. Glad you like the jewelry! I've got to start selling some of this stuff! It's piling up!! lol

Pam - You're going to be a wonderful officiator! I wish I was there, too. Good thing we're not....we'd be making faces at you in the back row.

Laura - glad you're better too. Jeez!

Hey Violets..

Just in from the pool. I think I can squeeze out one more day before we close it up. It felt so good to get in there and do my exercises.

Just an hour til I have to be at our concert. I'm heating up my tilapia right now.

I'll check back when the concert is done and I've unwound a bit. Everyone have a great evening!!

Tracy and I must have been sisters or something in a former life...i swear! My gosh those things (frosties) are my weakness! Whats up Tracy? What happened?

Terry-you made me lol when I read your post cause I did the same thing yesterday but DQ, Wendys and Sonic were all out of sinful treats. SO, I did not get one. I figured it was God telling me something too. I did not go down without a fight though! LMAO

An IEP is an Individualized Educational Plan. The individualize and personalize a students education. Meetings are called to involved the parents, and keep them in the "know" about programs etc. their child will get.

Been a model bandster today and I am starving. Going out to dinner...but cause I just had a fill, gonna 'do' something soft and mushy. He wants his patients on liquids for a week, then mushy for a week, then soft for a week...yeah freakin right. I do mushy/soft for a week...then slowly go (or try) regular. Did I mention the new nutritionist is oooo about 5'11, 100 pounds and looks like she just left "America's Next Top Model" show. My gawd...I mean really...she turned sideways and damn near disappeared. She was all pissy w/ me for not taking Vitamins and made me go get 9 vials of blood drawn yesterday (did I tell ya'll this?). Anyhoo...skinny biotch, lol!

OK...gotta boogie!

Laura - How are you doing?

TracyinKS - glad to hear I am not th eonly one that eat's (or can eat)Large Frosty's.

TacyK - I hope Macy gets to feeling better soon! What a great DH.

I am okay - I really need to change up my eating and get back to losing again. My cousin had Gastic Bypass last week - and that has me feeling guilty that I have gained 23lbs from my lowest point (even though only 24 hours there) and I need to EXERCISE.

Judy - thanks for keeping us updated!

Kat - So happy to hear you are feeling much better.

Kity - 9 vials - wowser that is a lot! Hope they come back all in the norm.

Suziecat - My DH loves meatloaf also -- we made some last weekend - on the grill. mmgood.

We got a new puppy about 3 weeks ago (9 mo old corgi - named Peyton) SHE has more energy than the law should allow. The kicker -- she just started her first heat. Did you know the messy part lasts 16 days -- I am so tired form all the extra work. Wheew. She is adorable and te best personality. HAPPY all the time. AND getting along fine with our 7yr old German Shephard - Heidi.

Beware -FOOD PORN:

I went and saw Paula Deen saturday. She brought Mike - her husband and she is SO FUNNY and entertaining. They also had expo of 100 vendors.

HERE IS WHAT I DISCOVERD THAT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD:

1. Tastefully Simple's Absolutely Almond Pound Cake - a simple mix, add butter and Water.< /p>

Very moist and wonderful flavor - best I ever have had.

2. West Virginia fruit & berry - Cherry Butter- absolutly heavenly on toast!

3. River City Bean Co. - Richmond Va - has these Keylime flavored chocolate candies with coffee infused in. They come in a small tin - great pick me up!

(those above I bought - I was weak!)

Also good was:

Gracie's Garden Franklin VA -- had lots of uniquie jelly's - such as Garlic Basil Jelly You could take and toss on Pasta - be good - or poor over cream cheese - serve on crackers or bread.< /p>

Have a good evening everyone!

Tonight it was gravy. Gravy on the meatloaf, gravy on the mashed potatoes, gravy on the biscuits, green Beans, apple pie and vanilla ice cream. And it all was wonderful. Than we took doggie for a walk.

Normally we have ketchup but with it being hubby's b-day I got the gravy. I like ketchup when I make meatloaf sandwiches. Yummy.

Gina, Peyton is so cute, love those ears.

Gina -- I LOVE Corgies!!! They are soooooo sweet! We had one that lived across the street from us. They had an Iron gate across their driveway so he was outside quite a bit....and when we would walk our dog he would RUN to the fence and hop and jump 'til we came over to him. Just the cutest dog ever! I can't wait 'til we get another dog. We had to put ours down right before my LB surgery and i sure do miss her. Congrats on your new baby!

Evening, Violets..

Well, another concert done. We got a standing ovation so we must have done something right!! I had a couple of NSV's and then a real downer. Several people told me how nice I looked tonight.. actually heard the word pretty!

BUT.. two of the girls forgot to bring white tee shirts to wear under the black tops so I told Bob to bring two of mine. One was a medium and one was a 2X from my former life. Well, the lady who wore the 2X one thanked me for bringing the shirt to her and said it was a good thing we were about the same size so it would fit her. arghhhhhhhhhhhhh I haven't worn a 2X in a long time! In those particular tees I wear a medium!!! OH well, can't have all NSV's all the time!!

I'm off to go watch some TV with the Bobster and then head to bed. Everyone have a good night. sleep well. We got Kat feeling better... now we really need to work on Laura!!!

Tastefully Simple is awesome, a friend from another forum introduced me to them 2 years ago..I was looking for a good beer bread mix (to make to take to in-laws for xmas).. she told me to try theirs, I ordered it, and it was amazing. I bought several boxes, I make it for every holiday..in fact I still have a couple boxes. You just mix in a bottle of beer, and optionally add butter to the top. voila! This year I also ordered a couple of their pumpkin bread mixes, but I haven't tried them yet.

BBBValueBPackPK.jpg mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Another day of working from bed, and taking meds. The pain is extremely slow and going away, but I am noticing more and more progress. I can do more with mild pain instead of the excruciating pain..still can't bend or reach though.

I am going to try to only take muscle relaxers tomorrow instead of them & pain meds.

I am also reading one of the books Russell brought home for me "The Glass Castle".. very sad, very good.. I am 3/4 through, going to try to finish before passing out... I recommend this book though!

So glad you're healing well Kat!!

Oh and for what it's worth, Judy I don't know how ANYONE could think you wear a 2x. You look like a size small quite frankly, you're very petite!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
