laura - pretty sure gaining a few pounds that you can lose again trumps irreversable brain damage or malformed limbs...

KAT - YOU BACK?? I see your name on here... I heard about the accident with the ballon catching on fire. Everyone in your group ok?

Terry - I would love a cat also but my Princess thinks she was put on this earth to do battle with cats. She can't stand them and will foam at the mouth each time she sees one trying to get at 'em. Yes, this is my four pound nine year old maltese. Thinks she's Cujo reincarnated...

At this rate I'll gain 60lbs by the end of it, but 'few pounds', yeah.. I've never heard smoking causes malformed limbs. :smile2:

A coworker (who smokes) said she bought this book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" last year, and hasn't read it yet.. so she brought it to me today to read. So far, it mentions many smokers will buy the book and out of fear, won't read it.. hehehe. Not sure where it's going yet, but it keeps saying you don't need will power, you don't need gimmicks, and you won't have cravings.. got my attention.

Hey Girls~

Made it home late last night/early this morning, it was about midnight. We hung out til the last balloon quit glowing, and the fireworks were over, took the bus back to our car and home we came!

I thought the trip was going to be ruined. I come down with a head cold or sinus infection or something, but the meds I took kept me comfortable, then come home and had some nightime sinus stuff, so was ok.

We come home late, and left out early, and went and got a load of wood. One more load, and we will be set for winter. Rick is off gettting another load with my Dad right now. Then a couple for his folks and I think we have everyone topped off. I mentioned to his siblings again about the wood, I guess they would prefer them to freeze....something I intend on mentioning to them frequently as the weather gets colder. Our son has done the bulk of their wood hauling and work this year....gotta love him.

Judy, what a wonderful ultrasound picture, some of them are so difficult to get the baby to cooperate into a nice position, your baby looks like they posed!!!

Love Ethans hat, and little red cheeks. Kinsey has a menagerie of dogs snuggled up with her at home, she sleeps with her chihuahua. When Manda takes her to bed at night, Dozer (the 3 lb. dog) gets put up with her, they read a story, and when Kinsey gets ready to go to sleep, he climbs under the covers and waits, and when she gets positioned, he snuggles in. Manda said when she goes in and sits on the bed in the morning to get Kinsey ready to come here, she has to be careful not to sit on the dog, and the dog groans and moans, and HATES being taken out of the covers to go outside! Spoiled little beast, but Kinsey ADORES him!

Laura, great job on the no smoking, I knew you could do it! What better reason! Yes you may gain more than the Dr. likes, but she is going to be glad you quit smoking, and frankly if she is snotty about it, and not supportive of you quitting, it is not too late to find another Dr.!! That is a HUGE thing to do---giving up the cigarettes without a replacement nicotine source, or Chantix or anything, I would hope she sees it for the benefit it is. As your cravings reduce, your weight will stabalize for the pregnancy. Just keep your kidney situation in mind, maybe that will help.

TracyK----thanks so much for sharing the info about having to help Macy learn to work alone. I too usually color right along with Kinsey, and help her do things--I am learning from you, and plan to back off some and let her learn to do things alone too. I know it does not help Macy, but thank you for sharing!!!!!!

Well, everytime I think of something I want to say to one of y'all, something interupts, I have been an hour trying to get this posted. Going to just post it, and will try again later!!!

Hugs!

Kat

I quit smoking, but I am eating more. I know that's a choice too, but when I'm at home at night I either gotta eat or chain smoke. If I'm not smoking at all, I eat.. or I'll go crazy!! I have been going to bed early to not go overboard, but I can't help myself.

I am glad I am getting a fill next week. I know I'm going to gain more than my obgyn said she wants me to being that I'm not going to be smoking. Which is the greater evil? :smile2:

I hear ya sista! I know exactly what you mean! lol It is better to quit then take the weight back off....at least that is what I am doing!

You are welcome  I took Pamelas advice and the sticker thing is going very well! She has done well since that day and has gotten a sticker every day!

TracyK---can I have a sticker? Rick went riding without me....DD has the day off, so Kinsey is at home, I don't even have the TV on, it is just..... q u i e t. AND I am all alone in the quiet! I think I deserve a sticker!!! LOL

Seriously, I am so glad she is enjoying the challenge of earning the stickers, and that it is something that will help her overcome her want for the teachers company. I would never have thought of it! I seriously thought I (as I am sure you did) was doing the right thing, helping her, spending quality time with her, helping her learn.....there is always gonna be a pitfall.....sorry you had to find this one tho!!!

Phew!!!!

Busy, busy day. One good thing about being busy is that it keeps me away from the food.< /span>

Breakfast- oatmeal

Lunch- cottage cheese and pinapple, string cheese

snack- handfull of peanuts

about 8 lifesavers.

80 ounces of Water.< /span>

BLT's for dinner but I'm gonna have a salad and crumble a few bacon strips on it.

Weather is suppose to turn cooler next week so I'm going to try to get outside as much as I can this weekend. If I had a dog I would take it to the dog park. Unfortunetly my sisters doggie doesn't play well with others.

Good evening, Violets..

WEll, my name was there, but I wasn't! We've been here and there getting all our ducks in a row before we leave tomorrow. And yes, I have my lucky cruise Bracelet packed!! I also have my new leaf necklace packed as it will go with the outfit I'm wearing from MIchigan to Florida.

I didn't have Ethan today as there was no work for his dad, so he didn't go in. Sooooooooo we got the lawns mowed, the house dusted and got Snacks and magazines to take on the plane.

I'm going to go watch some tv, hit the hot tub and then to bed. Everyone have a good evening.. I'll check in one more time before I leave tomorrow. sleep well!!

Hey Girlies~

Tracy~ I am so glad the sticker thing is working. That is a tough lesson you are teaching her...that failure is ok too...but one that is invaluable! As for Terri's son, we might need to upgrade stickers for hot girls or cool cars or something.

Judy~ HAPPY CRUISING!!! xoxooxxo

Susanne and I had a great date this afternoon. We went to see Body of Lies (w/ DeCaprio and Crowe...very good, smart movie) and then went to an outside cafe for dinner. I had a scoop of chicken salad and 2 bites of a garden salad. Was a lovely evening...perfect temp, perfect company. Have I told you all how lucky I am to have such a wonderful partner. Came home and packed (wearing jeans and bringing sweats...easybreezylemonsqueezy) and am emotionally and literally ready to go. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Have a great weekend. I'll pop in Sunday night!

Aren't I too old to have a huge zit on my face?

I have a busy day tomorrow at work, then I have got a bunch of things to do Sunday, then Monday I am going to get a flu shot! There is a big hospital here that gives them out for free!!

Did you have all your tests Kat? Thanks for the card!! My sneezing is getting a bit better, and my nose is not running all the time!! I was doing a foil today, and had to keep excusing myself, take off my gloves, blow my nose, wash my hands, put my gloves back on, and do some foils then repeat the blowing sequence. I don't feel bad, just get aggravated, and then crabby!!!

I am going to get to bed so I can get up and go to work!!

Have a safe trip Pamela!!

Judy, you have your lucky jewelry, so make sure you hit the slot machines with your jewels on!!!!! Speaking of being lucky, good luck to you Laura!! Drive safely and have fun!!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
