Hey everyone!! It's been a while since I have read the thread but looks like everyone is doing really good...:rolleyes2:

My nephew has been home from Iraq since May 29th and I've been spending all my spare time with him. Unfortunately he has to go back on Tuesday, but it's been wonderful having him home and spoiling him rotten!! We're doing a big cookout tomorrow night then he goes to Atlanta Sat. to see his Dad.:)

Gotta go and set the coffee pot for tomorrow!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Dawgfan, How proud you must be of your nephew, Give him a big 14_2_108.gifTHANK YOU from me and my family for keeping us safe. I will keep him along with the rest of our troops in my prayers.

So today is my one week post op 'anniversary'. One of my main complaints the last few days is this lightheaded, dizzy, feeling like I am going to pass out feeling. It's happened the past 3 days and seems to be getting worse. Well today I was home when it happened and I took my blood pressure, it was 80/50!!! My pulse was 46. I promptly called my surgeons office and they referred me to my primary care to ask about dropping my blood pressure meds some. THEY TOOK ME OFF OF THEM!!!! ONE WEEK POST OP AND I AM ALREADY GOING OFF B/P MEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am thrilled with that. Of course, I have to monitor it closely at home to be sure it doesn't spike back up, but she said that was way way too low. And if it does go up, I may need a weaker RX!!! I was hoping to get off them eventually but never dreamt at one week!!!!!!!!!

That's fabulous! I had the same dizzy, lightheaded feeling a week or so after my surgery, so I checked my blood pressure, but it was the same as it was the day of surgery:thumbdown:. But, my Vitamins didn't have Iron, which I knew I should be taking, and after one Flinstones with iron, I was fine. Congratulations, and hope to join you soon .

I am only going to the doctor every 3 months now. I went on June 6 and got what the nurse called a little tweek (she added .1 to my 4cc band currently at 3.7cc). I only started to feel the full effect of it Wednesday. I am probably a little too tight but it usually loosens up or I get use to it. My band makes a lot of noise about an hour after I eat (while the food goest through). It takes about 4 hours before I feel hungry again. I can't eat anything in the morning because of the tightness.

Hi, I was banded on May 23rd and haven't had my first fill yet and I am not losing weight!! I have no restriction so it's hard to not eat everything but I don't eat everything I want even though I want to. I never feel like I am going to PUKE or nothing gets stuck. IS THIS NORMAL? I feel like going back to the Liquid Protein because I feel the food is keeping me from losing. I am eating FOOD once a day. HELP....

Hi everyone, I drink over 64 oz of Water does this mean I need a fill. I can also eat and not fill up. I have only had 1 fill since my surgery.

Liquids will always go right through... won't fill you up. But if you're not feeling satisfied, you may need a fill. How much are you eating and how often? What kinds of things are you eating? When was your surgery?

Very few feel restriction before the first fill, so that is normal. However, what are your doctor's/nutritionist's guidelines for this post-op period?? I was told to eat 1/2 cup servings 6X a day. I would think you should be eating frequent small servings rather than only eating once a day. It may very well be that NOT eating is what is keeping you from losing.

You need a fill. This is perfectly normal. You are in what we call bandster hell.

Hardly anyone loses at all or very well until they have actually had more than one fill. Try not to get frustrated over it. It's very normal. When you go for your first fill, ask your doctor if he can be aggressive with a fill.

Hey Denise, thanks for the post. Now I understand why I wasn't losing much after my surgery even though I was following my doctors guidelilnes. I had my first fill a week ago and I have finally started to see some progress! I have good restriction now and can only eat very small meals at a time. I really reallly have to chew well and go slowly. Getting in my 8 glasses of Water is still a challenge. I have been averaging about 4-6 glasses a day so I know I have to put more effort into that. I have also joined a gym so I am off to get my exrercise in ( which is like pulling teeth for me to go but once there I am glad that I did it) I know I have to work with my tool. Becky

Becky, now don't be too surprised when your fill loosens up. You probably

already know this, but as you lose weight, you are also losing fat around your stomach, between your stomach and the band. That's why we need another fill. The fat melts and the band gets looser.

Denise, melting fat around my middle.....sounds good to me. I know that it usually takes a couple of fills to find the "sweet spot" I am learning as I go with the help of people like you and my fantastic surgeon. Meanwhile I am happy to say that my BP yesterday was 116/62!!!! It hasn't been that low in about 30 years WooHoo!! I am feeling fantastic and my emotional health has improved. I know that there will be ups and downs on this journey just as in life, but I know that I have you all to help me through and keep me truckin. Have a great day. P.S. Everyone say a little prayer for my surgeon who lost his home in a horrible fire that has claimed many homes in our area of Butte County, Calif. It has burned over 20,000 acres and at the last count 40 homes and one life have been lost. I pray that they will be able to contain it soon now that the winds have died down. Thanks, Becky

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
