Janet, I always appreciate your imput. You have time and success under your belt (a much smaller belt I might add) I would rather be eating foods than the Protein Drinks anyday. I have been having scrambled eggs, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, ground turkey patties, low fat yogurt, lowfat string cheese, mushed up Beans, humus, a little mashed potatoes from time to time, tuna with a little fat free mayo. What other Protein choices do you suggest? Are there any of these that I should not be eating? I know the potatoes are probably not a good choice but I have the small red potoes and mash them up with a little skim milk just once in awhile. What about the South Beach pre made fozen meals in a pinch, like to take to work sometimes. I have been walking my dog in the park in the evenings and using my eliptical machine at home but I haven't been consistent. The exercise factor has always been a hugh challenge for me. I am going to ride my bike today for 30 min. I know that my sister and I can't always work out together. Once I get started at the gym I know that it will be up to me to go on a regular basis. My plan is to go before work 3-4 days a week. If I wait until after work I can always find an excuse not to go. Instead of sitting in the morning sipping coffee and reading the newpaper I can go to the gym instead. I always enjoy it once there but it take alot of mental talk to get my butt in gear. Thanks for taking the time to listen and advise. I value your opinion very much. Becky

Hi Boo Boo, I have noticed that all my aches and pains are going away too. It is so wonderful to wake up in the morning and not be in pain. That has been an added bonus that I wasn't counting on. Yay fabulous fifties! Becky

I have several South Beach Living meals on hand, especially those that are just meat and vegetables. I also have the 4 oz cottage cheese containers and the chocolate pudding. THey do make the quick fix meal very easy and they taste so good

i pushed myself to go exercise by myself today. I slept in and didn't get in the scheduled walk with my exercise buddy. and later when I tried to get hold of her she was not available, so off to the "Y" I went by myself. Had a great workout

I have little if anything of trigger foods for myself in the house. I just find myself eating too often, even if it is good food sources; cheese, tuna, yogurt, cottage cheese, sf fudgecicles & popsicles. Tried to be better today and had a good success..

I like the South Beach meal that is chicken in some sort of spaghetti type sauce with broccoli. I can't eat all of it, but I like to make it on my lunch break. I will usually eat the rest of it for dinner and just add a bit more chicken.

I'm so excited 36_22_24.gif, I finally past my first plateau and lost 2 more lbs this week. I was stuck for almost 3weeks and was getting a little discouraged. I have 9 more days till my first fill and can't wait.23_11_59.gif

Sounds like everyone is doing great.

I try to have one Protein Drink every other day. Other than that my Protein consists of meat, cheese, tuna and eggs and I'm feeling great. And my energy level is also up alot. Not sure why, I've only lost 16 lbs, but whos complaining, not me.....

36_1_32v.gif I also wanted to thank everyone who hase shared their expierences, ups and downs and accompishments. You keep us all going. Luv you guys!!!!23_32_10.gif

This is sure encouraging to read! I have severe osteoarthritis in my knee and it's about bone on bone. I've lost about 18 lbs so far and I can tell a little difference already, can't wait to be banded and lose even more. It's such a hinderance to exercise though I do go do a stationary bike and that's not too bad.

I mostly walk when I can or use the stationary bike for my knees. Everything else hurts and puts too much pressure on my knees.

my instructions were no baths or swimming until all incisions were healed.. and it was jsut walking allowed for the first 3 -4 weeks.

but as we all know each Dr has theirn own plan of attack for when things can be resumed

My doc said no swimming for 2 weeks. I was banded 5/13 and was back to Water aerobics on day 15. Doing fine, but feel a twinge if I twist.

Long, you are really close to your surgery date and I am excited for you!! I had mine done on May 23rd and it's the best thing I have ever done. My knees are bone on bone too and I couldn't even walk. I had one knee replaced but because of my weight it didn't do much good. YES, there is hope for us OA patients. GOOD LUCK

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
