NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!

Recommended Posts

Yeah, what Terri said...

Remember when making flights that 3 of us live in the houston area and can pick ya'll up and drive into SA. Even though I hate driving in Houston traffic with a purple passion, I will do it for the violets. (no pun intended) Not to mention I have to go that way to get to SA anyway!!

I guess as the date gets closer we can get a list from all of you to find out what times the different arrivals are so we can pick everyone up.

I just love when a plan comes together. I am so excited!!

Hi girls! So excited that this is actually coming into fruition. Terry, when do you need booking money?

I ditto what Terry said. If it's cheaper for you to fly into Houston and even to fly in Thursday, I don't mind picking ya'll up and ya'll are welcome to stay at my home...

So far Pam and Tracy have booked right? Terry do you want me to keep track of everyones flights and split the pickups between you, me and Tracy according to times of arrival? Let me know if I can help in any way...

Terry - I saw on the site that rooms can be reserved on a card... it probably should be reserved soon so they don't sell out? The site said card won't be charged until time of check in but there is a $25 cancellation fee. I'm commited so let me know who to contact to reserve mine and Tracyks' room. Do we have reservations in SA yet for Sunday night?

Thanks Terry, Tracyk, and Haydee.

Some of the flights did have carrier changes. You would think that coming from St. louis I could get a straight through flight!! I will continue to check!! Do you mind taking me back to Houston?

Jenn - The rooms are already being held for us until Jan 25 with no deposit ...just out of courtesy.

I will need a headcount by Noon, Thursday, Jan 24th. Also, if you want a room by yourself, make sure i know that, otherwise you get a roomie!

Haydee, thanks for your offer to help!! 1st step is to get a headcount, then reserve the rooms! But yes, it would be helpful if you gather the air travel info as people book their flights. If you know Excel, it would be easiest for me if you could plug the info into a table, that way we can easily sort it as necessary or add info.

I am in... as a final... and rooming with Tracyks...

so will i need to call with my credit card to reserve our room? It looked like they would reserve with a card or a check for 50% of cost.

Just let me know and I'll take care of ours!

OMG I can't beleive I'm even thinking about this but cost would be a HUGE HUGE DIFFERENCE

Could I take a cab to someone's house at 11:30pm? They have chaper flights that late. I could leave out of albany and have a stop in Baltimore... I don't know if I could deal with that but just a thought. Nonstop from Baltimore would only be $89 each way... I guess my sanity is most important. LOL

Yes, Huston

I'm just trying to get my options together as far as flights. who knows mabey i'll get my self excited to fly out of albany and meet michelle in Baltimore - that is where all the connecting flights are.

Newark NJ has flights on Continental Express direct to San Antonio for $318 which might work too (direct flights)

I really want a direct flight so I don't know, the only thing I do know at this point is I will be there!!!

I was just looking at that too. We fly guys into Newark all the time on Cont'l which is the best airline out there, Jenn. They would take excellent care of you! That early flight that gets into San Antonio at 10:48a would be excellent!...or even the next one getting in at 5:42.

Hopefully I will have someone to ride from Houston to SA with me. Like I said, I am willing to pick people up from the houston airport on the way to SA.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
