NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!

Recommended Posts

Home from swimming....was a good day. Went to a local micro brewery for dinner, but I can honestly say I did good. IF my meal had tasted decent, I wouldn't have, but it was horrible!! I had enchiladas--and picked the chicken out, and ate a few bites of it, but after a few bites, the flavor of the cream sauce it was in, and the nasty Tomato tortillas, was overwhelming....so I just sent it back! I had lost my appetite by then!!!

Now Becky and Gary will be here any minute, we are going to play some dominoes----and we have Snacks. Since I did not eat---I will likely ruin my day snacking!! I also did not drink much at all--so will attempt to drink lots of tea tonight, and avoid eating!!!

So buy my tickets on Tuesday huh Pamela? I will wait until you do yours on Monday to find out if you happen to come through Albq.

I don't have time to hit the other thread--so will say it all here!!

Tracy, I hope little Macy is much better, I thought about her several times through the day! Poor little thing!

They have a lazy river running through the aquatic area of the rec center today--and everyone is shocked that I am going to do that when I go to TX with y'all---so I cannot believe I am saying this but someone has to get a picture of me tubing!!! I have never requested someone take my picture, especially in a swimming suit!! No wonder everyone is freaking out over me going--well that and me going back to SA!!!! I am impressing people right and left!!! GO ME!!!!

OK gotta get things finished before they show up. Will try to check back before going to bed tonight!!!

Hugs~~

Kat

The last time I was in SA--I was escorted out!!! By an ARMED police guard!!!!

Yep!

My DD gets it! She belonged to a pregnancy board, and was in with a group who all had their babies in a couple of months time. She has flown to NY to meet up with a couple of the girls, and one come here last summer. So she understands, as far as the idea of it goes, she is shocked I am going back to SA though!!!

OK--Off to bed!! I did snack too much BTW!!!

A couple of years before I met dh I would chat in a 30something chat room. Those folks were my best friends and I had never met them before. I was in a new town with no family and I had always said that I would not go inot a chat room. I was glad I did. There were people from all over the world in that chat room. One day I mentioned that one of the girls was coming to Galveston and we were gonna hang out and the next thing you know it snowballed and we ended up having 16 people come to Galveston for a chat meet. One guy even came from London to meet us! We had 3 from canada and the rest were from different places in the US. It was so much fun meeting all the people that had become like family to me.

I had met dh on that website one day when he had just popped in out of nowhere. He wasn't really to jazzed about me having the chat party but I told him that it was already planned and booked. I also told him that since I had met my soulmate that I would not be chatting anymore and the party was the perfect ending of that chapter in my life. And it was the perfect ending!

THIS get together is different though, this is not an "ending" gathering for me, it is a lifetime of violet sista friendships that I appreciate more than words can express! So, in a nutshell, you won't get rid of me!

You have all heard the story!!! It sounds very dramatic--it was at the time, but before I say more---keep in mind, this is me winning the final round!!!

I left SA with an armed guard for protection. My ex husband, was still at large, and wanted for my attempted murder, he had stabbed me 8 times! I flew from SA to Albq, with a police officer, at my side!! While in the air, Cody (the cop) read me the file on my ex----90% of it I had no idea of! He was not who I thought he was literally--his name ironically was! But from his birthdate---to his ex con status, was all news to me---when all of this went down.

Cody and his wife, Chandi, and I still stay in contact. And there were some AMAZINGLY wonderful officers on duty that day. I was using my parents charge card to charge my ticket home---and unknown to us, they would not use it over the phone like that to purchase a kennel for me to bring my dog home. Jimmy (ex) had hurt her so many times, as she stepped between us trying to protect me! I was heart broken! One of the officers said he would take the dog----but in the end, they each pulled out their wallets, and together purchased the kennel! And my beloved Chelsea dog, come home with me....to live out the remainder of her 16 years! As soon as I got home, I sent the money back to Cody to give to the guys...they refused it!

I never once got the attitude, I had received here---I told them my story, and they "got" it! I have nothing but good memories of my armed escort out of SA.

My family and friends that lived through it with me though, are shocked beyond belief I am going back! It has been many years---he is still locked up----and this is my way of thumbing my nose at him in yet one more way.........I WIN!!!!!!!!

End of story! Not a happy one in some ways but an AWESOME one in others!!! We WILL have a margarita in celebration of my newest win!!

Cody is now a cop--a detective to be exact in Sacramento, which is where he grew up,and they have 5 kids!!!

I will buy my ticket this week!!! I am going to see the Dr this week to find out about my blood---and I think I am going to ask for a referral again to the PS! Wish me luck!!! I am not at goal, but this belly is making it difficult, the skin irritates, so I work out one day, and hurt the next....so it is hampering my life. Will keep you posted.

Going to go get ready for the kids to come over for the game---it is going to be so cold there!!!

Hugs~~

I did some checking today and for a flight to come in about the same time as TracyKS, I would have to change planes in Dallas in 35 minutes. I have never been to Dallas, wondering if that is realistic?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
