Do you miss your old eating habits?

I'm getting my band this month and the fear that I will miss eating is kicking in. Obviously my eating habits are what have led to the need for the band, but reading about PBing and other issues people have are making me realize how permanent this lifestyle change is going to be. Has anyone dealt with this? Will eating ever feel normal again?

I actually DO miss my old eating habits. I know they were unhealthy, but I start thinking about deep dish pizza and a rack of ribs and fajitas and sometime REALLY wish I had never done this.

Then I look at old photos and remember what happened to me when I fell into those habits. I look at my parents who are only 20 years older and wheelchair-bound, and realize that I was headed right there.

I can live with these limits.

Good attitude Manatee,

If I miss a taste of something like pizza, I have a bite of my kids' (much to their delight as you can imagine) A taste is sometimes all I need. I can have a bite of pizza, mostly topping, or a rib or a bite of fajitas. I really don't have to say no to anything.

FORTUNATELY, I have lost my taste for bread, buns, and the things that are not band-friendly.

Hi Indio: Thanks for all the work you do on this site. I am prebanded but what I read so far I understand that you are a big help here and just wanted to let you know it's greatly appreciated.

I wanted to shoot you a quick question about the 25% that the lap band helps with. What exactely does it help do? Does it decrease appetitie by 25%? Does it remind you to eat slower and stop sooner?

My problem with food is portion control and I eat rather healthy but I think I lost the "full" signal a long time ago.

thanks again
