Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am often in a hurry and wanted to find out what fast foods you have found from the chains that is ok to eat at the weight loss stage? Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!!

I would stay away from fast food burger and fries. They are LOADED WITH CALORIES!!! Fries alone at McD's are over 500 calories, and most cheeseburgers are over 600 calories. Subway or Quiznos? I would avoid beefy things at fast food places-always extra fatty for more flavor. Most fast food places have grilled chicken sandwhiches (not breaded-extra calories and carbs). Salads are definitely good.

But, you will save yourself many calories if you take some time every evening to pack a lunch. You'd be surprised how many calories are in fast food salads. All it takes is 10-15 minutes to prepare a hearty, low calorie lunch. Especially if you are in the weight loss stage, you will find it harder to lose the weight eating out for lunch all the time. I know from personal experience. Every tried Lean Cuisine or Weight Watches? They are very good and almost always on sale! Highly recommended! Good luck with your food choices. Remember, they don't choose you--you choose them!

I am all for Wendy's Chili, the small fills me up great.

Also the pinto & cheese at taco bell (I also add onions).

Mexi-melts at taco bell sometimes.. just 1, and I can eat about 1/2. (Kind of funny, I use to eat 2 of these with the rest of my meal in the past). And if you're trying to go healthy diet or whatever, you can have the mexi-melts fresco style.

Subway bread is too much for me, but I could tolerate 1/2 of the tortilla sometimes (and refrigerates well!). I never cared for veggies on my subs in the past, but now I get cravings for it.. I get the subway club with extra green peppers, banana peppers, lettuce, onions, dijon mustard, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper. Num num. I hear you can have this made into a salad instead of putting it on a sandwhich, but never tried it. Haven't tried subway since my last fill since most solids don't agree with me.

If DH is in a bind, he's gotten me chicken nuggets kids meal from McDonalds, but I can't seem to get the nuggets to go down. It might just be me, so if you can get them down, 4 chicken nuggets isn't bad.

My fast food choices:

Chipotle chicken bol, no rice extra black Beans, hot salsa, light on the cheese & sour cream. I can easily get 2 - 3 meals out of this.

Schlotzky's Thai chicken pizza or Soup.

Taco Bell or Taco Bueno - pintos & cheese. Sometimes I will get a spicy chicken taco and add some of the meat to the Beans, hubby eats the rest.

McDonald's fruit n' Yogurt parfait.

Chipotle is not a drive through but I would consider it "fast food". You stand in line...get your food fast. It can be a fresher, healthier choice.... I like it!

Yeah, it's fast food. Assembly line style. Maybe similar to Subway in how it works, tho I've seen two Subways with drive thrus. If you have a Mesa Wraps or Qdoba, it's not horribly different. Sit-in, but their futniure is specifically designed to be uncomfortable. For two reasons that are related - one to ship people out faster (they get horrendously busy at lunchtime), and two is because they sell beer, but don't want people lingering there like they do at restaurants or bars.

I had to give up my Chick Fil-A addiction after being banded. I did once have the grilled chicken sandwhich once w/out the bun, but that was NEVER what I got there in the past. Those waffle fries are too tempting.B)

I really like Subway's tuna salad. I don't know how they make it, but it's really tasty, and doesn't have all that stupid crap like relish and celery in it that you normally find. I'm also a seafood snob, but I like their seafood & crab. That surpises me. I've never found an easy way to order it thought. Usually I just ask them, since it's $1.50 for extra meat, can I give them $1.50 and they put the "extra" tuna on a plate. You'd think I would have asked it is Sanskrit or something. But it's better than trying to say "I want a tuna sub on a plate, no bread"... then they just want to suggest the salad b/c it's better for ppl on Atkins. *sigh*

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
