Minutes away from getting my band

And I am scared as can be. Dizzy from the lack of food and sleep. I could just break down. I've never had surgery before. Please let everything go well today.

Ow, as long as I dont move too much, Im fine. I find myself having to pee every 1.5 hours. (is that normal?) Im taking a liquid vicoden that works great, just wish it would last the full 6 hours.

Congratulations Justin. Try to make sure you follow your doctor's directions on how long he wants you to be on the liquid diet. Some people really have trouble staying on it. It's not for losing weight. It's so the band can heal properly around your stomach. They don't want the stomach moving to digest food.

I am sure you will do great and we are all cheering you on!

For those who have had the band. Do you feel the band at all. Are you always aware that it is inside you?

Make sure you walk walk walk the gas out so you wont be sorry. Trust me , I walked every 4 hrs in the hospital and my recovery was awsome! i also brought my laptop to the hospital and i was able to get to this laptalk as well. Good luck!

in my room now. Wasnt bad at all. Hurts a bit on my ribs from the gas. Gonna get me some apple juice:biggrin1:

WALK WALK WALK :whoo:

Nancy - I can feel the band port if I press on my tummy. If I move certain ways I can feel it pop against my ribs. My port is really high under my rib cage.

As far as the band itself; I could feel it during a fill which was a little odd feeling that slight squeezing on the inside. I forget that I have it and usually have a rude awakening because I ate too fast or didnt chew enough :D

I dont really feel it. It's more like Im aware that its there, but post-op I wasn't even 100% sure they installed it other than I had band-aids on my stomache.

I was too afraid to poke around post-op till everything healed over. Now I find myself pushing in my port (it's so close to the skin, I can feel the rubbery top.. at least that's what it feels like), and poking at the edges.

You got apple juice, how lucky. They TORTURED me post-op, I have no idea why!!! I think nurses thought I had RNY, they kept saying it. I was so dry and hoarse from the tubes, I was thirsty.. and they gave me literally 2 tiny ice slivers. And I took em in one gulp and asked for more. They said NO! And wouldn't let me have Water, or popsicles, or anything I hear other people got. I was so miserable, I just wanted to gargle water I was so thirsty. Of course, it eventually passed and I went home and drank all the water I wanted B)

WTG Justin!!! C surgery isnt so bad is it?? I'm so glad you are on your way to a better life. Keep us posted sweetie on your recovery!!

blessings on your recovery
