Anyone from NYC/Westchester?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I live in northern Westchester. Born in Mt. Vernon, raised in Mt. Vernon and the Bronx. I've been banded almost 2 yrs - by Dr. Kurian. I'm currently going for fills in the White Plains office and have also seen Dr. Fielding there.

Nice to meet you guys! I didn't know about the White Plains office. I heard about the one in New City (one sunday every month) so I made an appointment there for February 10. It's hard to make all of these appointments in the city with work! lol.

Lovely meeting some more NY'ers on here!!

Originally from Arkansas but living in downtown NYC. Talk about a switch!

Was just banded on Monday by Dr. Kurian at NYU. The stomach pain hasn't been bad at all. But the shoulder pain...Yowzer. I'm ready for it to pass so I can get back to the usual routine!

Hope yall are all doing well! Have a great weekend.

Hey Everyone,

Talk about a small world. comepickmeup and Workintheband I was banded 3/07 by Dr. Kurian's former partner Dr. Roslin/Lenox Hill Hosp. I was wondering what had happened to her. Now I know.

Hi TachaBaby505 and chocolate_snaps. I'm from Manhattan/East Harlem.

Hope we can keep in touch with each other here. Have a good weekend everyone.

I live in Westchester and Manhattan. I was banded on 3/19/07 lost 50 lbs so far, slow loser, I want to lose about 20-25 more lbs. I already feel like a new person. Spent over 3 hours in the office waiting to see Dr. Fielding today..people were backed up into the hallway. Finally I saw Gaspar instead. the practice is getting might crowded. Hopefully this more aggressive fill will speed up my weight loss and keep the hunger down.

The office always seems to be full of people getting unfilled for vacations..etc...something I never plan on doing. I really want to do this right and be successful, unlike me on any previous diets:)

Mags,

I also live in Westchester but lived in the city until 2 years ago. I had my lap band done on 12/31 with Dr. Ren. I have had 3 fills already and feel SOME restriction. On my last fill sh loaded me up so much that I never made it out of her office. I literally chocked on my own saliva. I guess I was such a pain in the you know what she wanted to show me that I have a band. The thing is that now she took out some of the fill (so I can breathe)and I don't feel so much restriction. I am to embaressed to go back so soon. OH THE DRAMA.

Hey all!

I live in Yonkers right now (moved from Iowa about a year ago) and going for my first consult with Dr. Philip Weber in White Plains on March 18th. I tried for Dr. Artuso but he's out of network for my insurance.

I hope to hear more from you all

See you found the NY crowd, good for you. Have you considered Dr. Fielding? I see his name a lot on the forum and if I remember right, he's been banded, too. His niece ( i think) is on the forum and he did hers. Seems most people have been very happy with his practice. Sounds like they have an office in White Plains and the city.

Hope I gave you the right info, I'm from CT, but have seen a lot of posts about him.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
