Just wanted to say hello. Stumbled upon this fourn as i was looking for a new protien powder. So here is the low down about my journey so far. I Had gastric bypass on 10/15/24. My heaviest weight was 477 lbs that was in April of 24 the day i walked in to the weight loss center. My day of surgery weight was 457 lbs, as I approach my 5 month mark today's weigh in was 346 lbs that's 111 lbs in 5 months and 131 lbs since april...every day i feel better and my mobility improves. This is the best decision I have ever made!

Hello Chadomac,

Welcome to the group. Congratulations on your weight loss too! 6 months to surgery, and in 5 months you have lost so much already. Keep going, stay strong and keep up with what's going on in the forum and you will be cheered with every step you take!

Congratulations on your loss so far. My biggest suggestion as someone who has done this twice is to Take advantage of your ability to move around more by slowly adding in more movement with a goal of getting into an actual exercise routine. You will be able to lose without exercise but the exercise is just so absolutely incredible for mood and overall health. Plus from my experience after feeling so good and getting a good workout I don’t want to put any junk into my body so it makes healthy choices easier even after hunger and cravings return. I started out just walking while talking on the phone with a good friend and added Yoga and then a cardio class. Yoga is my favorite and it’s my me time. I just tried out classes at my community center. Non contracts and they are really cheap. Some libraries also offer group classes for free. Again, congrats and Keep it up, Sounds like you’ve got this!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
