WORST Puree Stage Recipe Experiences

Recommended Posts

Don't make too much in bulk in case you find out afterwards that you really don't like the taste/texture of certain foods anymore. Don't make too much in bulk anyway, because you'll probably eat less than you expect and you don't want a freezer full of puree when you're ready to move into soft food.

((Although some purees make awesome bases to help ease the way when introducing soft foods -- I personally feel like you can never go wrong with sweet potato puree and a half scoop of Bone Broth / Protein powder))

Greek yogurt can be your best friend. Use it in place of mayo with canned tuna/salmon/chicken to make a tuna salad, puree the heck out of it, and season to taste. Put in more yogurt/moisture than you normally would. Basically, once it looks gross it'll be smooth enough. Otherwise, you risk pain, nausea, vomiting.

Really pay attention to your care-team's advice at this stage. Read and re-read any handouts they've given you. You don't want to suffer from trying something your body's not ready for.

But more than that, pay attention to your body. Eat slowly enough that you can feel your body signaling you that something isn't sitting right, or isn't moist enough, etc.

I thought puree tuna was pretty gross. Purée egg salad on the other hand wasn’t bad at all. I have also puréed veggies witb good luck and I just added some unflavored Protein powder. The canned fruit with cherries came out with hard chunks so I suggest sticking with pears or peaches. meats just didn’t taste so great puréed.
Maybe they would be alright pulsed on the chop setting towards the end of puree with permission but I am not there yet.

see the NP Wednesday and plan to as of I can do that. I also puréed a whole container of fresh salsa and put it back into the jar and I have been using that to season my scrambled egg beaters and my purée refried Beans. I may not use it all but my hubby likes it hot so it would’ve gone to waste anyways since I’m eating so little and it doesn’t have preservatives.

The ricotta bake is my favorite. Just keep in mind if you are off the pain meds and still struggle with Constipation adding fiber to your diet will help. I got permission to puree overnight oats and they are really good. Just watch the sugar content because of possible dumping. I tried a few bites of everything and waited like an hour the first time I tried anything before I finished it.

Oh, yes, I’m with @ShoppGirl. Puréed tuna (& tinned salmon) was disgusting. Smell & taste - shudder. I could do eggs though thank goodness. Scrambled eggs, egg salad, yoghurt, instant oats & puréed chunkier Soups were the mainstays of my purée stage diet.

A friend swore by pureeing steamed chicken with lots of chicken stock & gravy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
