thank you for your reply. I’m excited to hit the 6week mark so I can start exercising more. I love walking but I don’t think it’s enough. It’s been very hot here so I haven’t gone out every day like I want to.

What stage of food are you on? I loved a enchilada/bean dip during the pureed/soft phase, the ricotta bake and just made a chicken and cauliflower "mac" and cheese casserole. I made most of these without meat in the pureed phase and just added ground turkey when I moved to the soft food stage.

I found egg white wraps and made a roll up with those for lunch with tuna or ham. and Breakfast has been scramble eggs. Adding more variety to them the further I move in my stages.

Hello everyone. I am new here. I got my surgery on 7/24/2023 in Seoul, South Korea. I've been living in Korea for around 4 years now and decided to take the jump. Got my consultation on 6/13 and then did my pre-op tests on 7/1!

It's been around 3 weeks post-op, and I'm currently on the pureed phase of the diet. However, my weight is already stalling at 91-92kg 😰 Question is, should I go back to my first week post-op diet or try to keep going with the current diet?

Hi there! Tomorrow I’m five weeks post op, and after an initial loss of 9kgs two weeks after the surgery, my weight loss became very slow. I worried too, but I spoke with my nutritionalist and my Dr & they both assured me that it was normal. I’m not a Dr, but I think it’s important to get your stomach used to foods at the rate you’re being advised on. I know the urge is to get to the weight loss NOW, but there’s more at stake here at this point. I urge you to just do exactly what your health care team have advised. It’s important for your body to acclimatise to foods again. You WILL lose weight, but don’t risk any complications by rushing. Apparently, it’s preferable to lose it more slowly rather than fast, for many reasons. I found it helpful to only weigh myself weekly, and to concentrate on walking and making the yummiest possible tablespoons of mush I possibly could! Get wild! 😉

Hello. I'm relatively new to these forums. I had my VSG surgery on July 10th, 2023. I weighed 450lbs on my surgery date, but gained 13lbs during my two and a half days in the hospital. :P It was Water weight because they kept the IV on non-stop pumping liquids into me without giving me my diuretic that I've been taking for nearly 10 years, Lasix(furosemide). I am at 410lbs now, a little over 5 weeks since surgery. My treatment team has a rather slow and careful recovery diet plan, starting with 1 full week of Clear Liquids + Protein Shake only, 2 weeks full liquid diet, 2 weeks pureed diet, 2 weeks of soft foods(where I am now), and then on to introducing regular foods starting the 8th week after surgery.

I am extremely thankful for the surgery. I'm feeling better, and am thankful that they cut away the hunger along with 85% of my stomach. :) I still don't have much of an appetite, but I understand that my stomach is still healing and it is going to take months. Right now is the time to learn new good eating habits. I've been following the rules set forth from my treatment team closely. I haven't thrown up, nor have I really felt nauseous. My stomach seems to be handling everything I've been putting into it. Although at work today my stomach let me know it was not in the mood for egg salad. after 2oz of it I felt a pressure and ache in my stomach so I stopped eating. It might have been stress or I still had some liquid in my stomach. I follow the 30:30 rule, but work was hectic and I loose tract of my liquids. Its frustrating having to stop to take a sip every 10 minutes. I forget to sip more than I actually do. :P

I am starting the soft food stage now, I love your ideas, I will use them just need something different, thank you...I probably should get a bariatric cookbook.

I had my one month follow up and the doctor first said that 18 lbs was good and I’m not stuck, then told me I’m hitting a plateau. I told him about some pain that I feel occasionally and that I think it’s bc I ate too fast. He basically told me I’m going to stretch my stomach out and ruin the surgery so now I’m afraid to eat. Any advice please? I’m in tears praying I didn’t mess up. I’ve been following the directions so closely.

do not drink the same times as eating leave 20 mins before you drink and chew your food around 15-20 times prior to swallowing, this will slow down the rate in which you consume food

One thing that really helped me not eat too fast, then consequently too much, is waiting at least 1 minute between bites. I have an analog clock in view and I mark the second hand and literally wait 1 minute or more between bites.

Then I set a 30 minute timer before I drink.

Had my surgery on July 10th so I just went to my 1 month checkup a couple of weeks ago and I'm down 40lbs.. So far so good even tho I feel like this week I'm hitting a stalling wall.

I had my surgery on July 10, 2023 and so far so good! I have been able to rejoin my Saturday walking group an do 3.2 miles with no wheezing or asthma issues! Looking forward to my next visit with the Surgeon post-op and hope to be cleared for Water exercises water aerobics and swimming will just have to adjust my meal schedule to have Protein before the workout so no cramps or spasms while in progress! Have a wonderful day everyone!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.
