I agree w the Fast food issue, I’m a Nightshift nurse and developed a terrible fast food habit I’m overcoming!

it is so difficult!!! i have only got fast food once in the past month! huge achievement and change for me … you can do it too!!! packets of tuna and cut up cheese along with apples and Peanut Butter were my staples that kept me from getting those 1000++ calorie fast food meals

I'm scheduled for October 11. I switched surgeons now and hoping this is going to be it. Trying to work on not talking myself out of it or overthinking too terribly much.

I'm scheduled for October 17th! Grandmedical hospital in Manisa, Turkey. I'm super excited and trying to be kind to myself before the big change. I've been dieting or tracking for the last 15 years straight. I'm allowing myself to be free for the time being and enjoying the things I wont be able to enjoy in the same capacity after surgery. I was never big on fast food, but we do eat out. I'm just doing a food parade as I say now and making sure I enjoy quality foods.

I was just wondering if anyone else was doing something like that, the food parade, as you called it. I have found myself wanting to have some of the foods I know I won’t be able to enjoy the same after surgery recently. I found myself thinking “this is the last month to enjoy XYZ”

We have an absolutely amazing Roman Pizzeria in our city and I will absolutely be enjoying it before hand along with my last "all you can eat" sushi dinner with friends. I know both are sometimes not well tolerated for quite a long time after. I also have a girls night planned where we do the six course tasting menu with wine pairing at a local restaurant. All the podcasts ive listened to about the process before and after, mention they either wished they had or were happy they did it.

I have. My surgeon said just to maintain my weight…. Sooo I haven’t changed my horrible diet. Still eat what I want because like you said, can’t have it the same after. Kind of nervous I won’t be able to have any of the things I like after… what if my stomach can’t tolerate it.

I am also going back and forth on my decision. It’s a permanent surgery. But then each time I lose weight, I gain it back plus more. Been 10 years that my weight started going up due to a very stressful divorce, menopause and then losing my mom and the pandemic, so …. My surgeon said that weight gain is typically only 10%… that is reassuring. I keep picturing myself thinner again (just going for healthy weight - not ideal weight) and healthier and more energetic that seems to help me focus on the positive of the surgery.

October 4th here. Getting the sleeve done. Have been waiting since July 2021 for it to get scheduled. Less than 4 weeks away, im starting to get nervous. I thought I had plenty of Protein but now that I've gotten my full instructions I only have like 2/3 of what I'll need just for the 2 weeks before and the 2 weeks after. I wish they had been more upfront with how much we would need I would have started hoarding it a lot sooner. Otherwise I think im about ready, have lots of Water and zero Gatorade for me and food and litter for the kitties. I feel like im never going to be totally ready in the time I have left.

I am scheduled for the VSG procedure on October 12th. So far I have stopped drinking carbonated drinks and alcohol. I also make sure to eat my Protein first and making a lot of protein based meals. I try to walk 30 minutes daily and cut back on sweets.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
