OMG! What an emotional roller coaster! Maybe one way to look at it is that the universe is ensuring you have the perfect staff in their perfect health so you will have a flawless surgery! :)

I like that point of view! 😃

Yes! I have American Eskimos and they are my sweetest babies! I never knew how much love I could have for them :D

I feel the same way about my fur baby. Wow! American Eskimos! Beautiful babies! What all is your surgeon having you do to prepare for your surgery? I’m actually having a gastric bypass as a revision to my gastric sleeve. I’ve had terrible acid reflux after my sleeve so the bypass should help with the GERD. Plus, I’m hoping to lose 30 more lbs since I only lost 40 lbs after my sleeve. I really should have had the bypass to begin with! Even though my BMI is 30, I still have to do the two weeks of liver shrinking diet prior to my surgery.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm really trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies and cut down on sweets. I figure the time for the pre-op diet will be here before I know it.

What things are you doing?

I am preparing and testing out recipes for once the liquid and post-op diet come in. I'm a big advocate of eating clean and not consuming items that can interfere with gut bacteria. Since the healing is so important and that environment is being so compromised. I have been working real close with my nutritionist to get that property types of Vitamins and minerals, omegas, and liquid versions of Calcium and magnesium. SO just doing a lot of research, food tests and prep as well as everyday meditating on a successful surgery and recovery. Trying to attack it from all aspects :)

I finally got my date! August 18th! It took three months to jump through all the hoops, but finally I got the call with the date :D I changed from the sleeve to the bypass due to a few minor complications with acid. I feel strong about my decision and I'm super excited to move forward.

Congratulations!
I’m 3 weeks out from bypass and I feel like a new person! You will not regret doing this. It is the best thing I have ever done for me!
I’ve lost 30 lbs, and I feel amazing! I had NO pain post op. No gas, no pain, I never needed pain meds, and I am not hungry. I could not be happier!
You are almost there! Yay, you!!!
I also had 2 months of pre-op testing for insurance and 2 weeks while they review everything. My insurance picked up 97% of the bill which was $70,000. It was ALL worth it!

That's Fantastic! So happy for you :) Congratulations on such a successful surgery and recovery. That is truly inspiring and I cannot wait to write my own post-op! ❤️

I was originally considering the sleeve, but my surgeon was concerned about the reflux so we opted for the bypass. I'm so sorry to hear you have to go in for a revision, but I sure hope it brings you some relief. I have a standard two week liquid pre-op diet, nothing special. But I'm modifying my Keto Chow Protein to use almond milk instead of heavy cream during that time. Last night I made fluff for the very first time using the SF Jello and greek yogurt - it was very good. So experimenting with recipes to see what I like/don't like cause I know I might too tired or need a family member to help :)

And you will!

I was so focused on the actual procedure, I forgot to think about the positive outcome! Don’t cheat yourself out of that experience!

can’t wait to read your post op story!

Yeah, I wasn’t happy with my results from the sleeve either so I’m glad I’m having the revision. I really had to get my head on straight about food before my surgery so it’s great that you’re preparing ahead of time. I was up and about immediately after my sleeve surgery so I’m hoping I will do the same after my bypass. I had to remember to take it easy because I felt fine afterwards. I only had a short period of pain and nausea while I was in the hospital and I got over it pretty quickly. I only spent one night in the hospital. I hope you do very well after your surgery! You definitely must keep us all posted!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
