That sounds like a sensible approach. My drs program allows me to count half of the liquid in Protein Drinks as Water, but since I can't really get them down, it makes little difference.

What kind of food are you eating during the puree stage? I'm supposed to start the puree stage next week, and not really sure what to do. I'm not meeting anyone at the clinic before the puree stage starts and the written program is a bit vague about this stage.

I’m not to my purée yet (next Wednesday) but my guidelines were anything that was the consistency similar to (not chunky) applesauce, babyfood or mashed potatoes.

That includes meats, Beans (like refried beans), cooked vegetables, eggs only if ground smooth.

If it’s possible to call to email your dietitian and run some ideas past them - that might be better than just guessing.

I’m starting with things that are specifically listed in my guide and then I will branch out from there depending on what I can tolerate.

So, it's not enough to just scramble your eggs, you need to put them in the food processor, too?

I think I need to email my provider to get better guidelines for the next stage.

That specific guideline was given for hard boiled eggs, like egg salad (no chunks).

I can’t have scrambled eggs until the soft food stage.

Program rules vary a lot… like my liquid diet are largely things I can drink through a straw. (Jello and popsicles being the exception). But others allow pudding.

Your program might be ok with scrambled eggs in purée stage.

Is that 30 days total (pre and post op) or 30 days post op?

Is anyone else sick of so much sweet food from pre/post ops? It all tastes so bad to me at this point.

Yes - that’s why I added broth in the pre op and went for Tomato Soup post op.

What have you found that helps cut the sweet?

My doc also does 30 days of liquid diet, but she's very smart and has a ton of successful patients so I'm ok with trekking through it.

I’ve been doing chicken broth with iso pure, and a little bit of the Tomato Soup too. Things just don’t taste the same.

I’ve been doing the same. The iso pure changes the taste a little bit I think. It’s not horrible but Wednesday can’t get here soon enough. I’m ready to taste some different flavors.

I had my surgery yesterday and got discharged to. liquid diet for 10 days. I feel pretty sleepy and my incisions hurt a bit, and getting up and down from sitting position os pretty painful, but otherwise going well.

That does seem like a long time but I’m betting there is a good reason for it. @heartofmercury mentioned having 30 days and I bet there are others.

My team said if I struggled at all with the diet at any stage to call. They would rather work with me to stay on track than to have me go off track and delay my healing or progress.

Hang in there - you have a lot of support here!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
