Amy: How is your energy level? Is it getting any better? I guess that is my biggest complaint. I'm more tired than I think I should be. I look at certain areas on my body and have little complaints, but when I look at my before pictures I know that I look a lot better than I did and try not to be obessive about it. Really glad I took my own nude before pictures! Amy, my daughter is having a major issue with her wedding dress. It has nothing to do with lapbands or plastics, but check out my rant on my thread and give me your opinion about what we should do? Thanks! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/kareyquilts-tummy-tuck-bl-lipo-ba-52831/index14.html#post778901

Hey Karey! My entergy level is ok...not much choice between, baseball, softball, dance and a 1yr old:crying: I still feel like my Lipo area/inc under my arms and my flanks are on fire at the end of the day but it does get better day by day.

R/t the wedding dress issue.I would def be getting a refund!!!That is way too much money to spend on a dress that is "not the one"

Speaking of wedding dresses,I tried mine on the other day and it was too big:thumbup:I will be married 12yrs in June so I was excited!

That's very cool about your wedding dress! My energy level sounds similar to yours. I'm okay until about 5 or 6 and then I'm a little painful and cranky! Don't know what I would do if I had a 1 year old. My 9 year old is helpful, but we have the lessons, etc. If we get a refund on the dress, than we won't have time to get a new dress made. The wedding is in less than 2 months. I think that the designer could put a rush on his dress and make good on what we bought. My daughter looked for several months and it took her a long time to choose her dress. She loved the sample dress and knew it was the "one". I think they should fix it. We shouldn't be penalized for their screw up. My husband will be making some phones calls Monday morning. I think that my daughter was too nice. She said she was in schock and just trying not to cry. We'll see what happens.

Hi Karey,

I had my tt four days ago and I hurt. It is not a pain, but a burning and sometimes a pulling/itchy feeling. I also have drains-DOUBLE YUCKY!! How long before I feel like normal? Be well.

Amy - I love looking at your pics, its so inspiring and makes me excited about getting my own tt done. How are you doing a month out now, are you still swollen? You don't like like you have swelling.

Amy, I think the wedding dress drama is resolved. Here is what happened. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/kareyquilts-tummy-tuck-bl-lipo-ba-52831/index15.html

Fran: It does hurt. I think within the next week you won't be as painful. I rarely having any burning sensations now. Just stay ahead of the pain with your meds if you need them. I took mine at night for about a week to help me sleep. You're going to be stiffer at night and when you first wake up, becuase the lymphatic drainage depends on body movement to circulate (unlike, say your heart). So night and waking up is the hardest. Try to pump your legs and move a little when you are resting and it should help. Are you happy with the results? Hope your recovery is getting better!

Steph....Thank you! I am doing much better and it gets better daily:wink2: I have been lucky and have not suffered from much swelling.I will take some more pictures next week.I am putting micropore tape on my scar to try and reduced the raised areas so hopefully next week my scar will show some improvement.

Karey....I am glad the wedding dress drama was solved!!!

Amy - are you using the Micropore tape over a silicone sheet or just by itself?

I am using the micropore tape by itself.I am very impressed!!! I have a very raised rope like area in the front and when I took the tape off today it was flat!!! Now it probably would raise again some if I left the tape off but I replaced it.It was wonderful though,to see my "worry" spot flat!!!

Hopefully it will do the trick!

Hi Amy, had a quick question for you. What size were you in preop as opposed to post op? How is your swelling and how long are you postop?

Hi Amy, had a quick question for you. What size were you in preop as opposed to post op? How is your swelling and how long are you postop?

I am 5weeks PO.I was in an 8/10 pre-op and now in mostly 7/8.I have some swelling under my arms and on my back flank area from Lipo but I have not suffered too much from the swelling.I was in jeans with my binder on and drains tucked in at Luby's on PO day 6.

Amy, how are you doing? I have my surgery scheduled for 2 weeks from today. I am a bit nervous. I bought a size 16 tankini yesterday that is totally cute. I might be as low as a size 14 with my thigh lift but for today I am fine with a size 16. Julie

You look amazing! I myself had the lap band done Jan. of 07. As of the past two months. . I have been working with a trainer twice a week and on my own twice a week. I'm kind of disappointed. .as of right now. . I have only lost 38 lbs. I would like to lose another 20 lbs but it seems to be very difficult.

As of a month ago. .out of being desperate to be thinner. . .I started the Lipo dissolve. I won't see any results until my 3rd or 4th time around. So cross your fingers.

My husband and I agreed to work out for one year with a trainer and see where I am at, at that time. . If I still feel I need a Tummy Tuck. . we will then move forward with the process.

Any encouraging words?

Kiresk: It takes a while to get results when working with a trainer. You may find that you don't loose a lot of weight right off. If you're working hard, you're probably gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat! Keep at it! When I started with my trainer, I didn't lose any weight for a couple months. But, I did lose inches. Take your measurements and you'll see. I also had to get very serious about counting calories, increasing my Protein intake and taking a multiple Vitamin. After working with the trainer for 6 months, I had lost 30 pounds and 3 sizes. For the last 2 months before my TT, I worked with a trainer 3 times a week and got off the last 10 pounds. It was HARD work, but well worth it. My PS said that I had little fat on my stomach skin, just 5 pounds of skin. That made it all worth it! Keep working, do cardio when you aren't working with the trainer and watch what you eat. Good luck!

Thank you for getting back with me. It has been discouraging. I did get a fill last week so I am hoping that will help.

Have you ever heard of Lipo dissolve. . if so, what are your thoughts?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
