Medical Marijuana Edibles After Gastric Bypass (RnY)

Recommended Posts

I'm prescribed MM for diabetic neuropathy pain, and got both tinctures and edibles and they do quell the pain and burning enough to allow me to have a restful sleep.

Taking the same amount with both, the edibles are way less effective, so...I'm thinking I can no longer process them correctly due to my bariatric surgery?

Does anyone have any experience with this or know that this is a fact?

Thanks.

Ive seen several people post on youtube that after weightloss surgery the affects were different. Some that it was much stronger and that they regretted taking it, Others say it helped with the nausea.

I just took half an edible yesterday, 4 days post-op. It helped me to get some good sleep and gave me crazy lucid dreams. I got the buzz but I don't think it's fair to say whether or not they are more or less effective, yet.

I'm curious though, your stats bar shows you had surgery in 2015... so you should have figured this out by now.

After my surgery I used a tincture that went under my tongue because I didn’t want to ingest anything solid. It definitely took the edge off what pain I had left and helped me get some rest.

Thanks all. While I did have gastric bypass in 2015, and pretty much aware of my issues with digesting some things, I just started MM last month, so...had no experience with this.

The edibles are gummies, and I've tried both chewing them up and swallowing, or just keeping in my mouth as they dissolve and get the same results.

At my next prescription renewal, I'm going to get all tincture, with no edibles.

I think I will try the tincture after reading these. I really like the honey so far the best.

I tried medical marijuana pre op and it gave me the munchies. Doesn’t it do that for you guys? Is there some secret to not eating everything in the house??

I think it depends on which strain you use, if you choose a strain with less thc, you'll probably experience less munchies.

The first time I used cbd tincture it gave me the munchies, but I've never experienced it since then and I take it daily. It's not supposed to do that since it has very low thc levels (I use full spectrum tincture) so who knows why it happened. But thankfully it only happened the first time for me. I've never tried MM or any M at all. Probably the only person on earth not to try it, haha.

Not sure what you're taking it for (I take it for inflammation due to autoimmune disease) you might want to try full spectrum tincture, you might get the desired benefits without the munchies. Use it sublingually and hold it there for 90 seconds and it absorbs quickly that way.

I tried it for anxiety but I honestly don’t even know if it helped because I was too busy eating everything.

I'd seriously consider the full spectrum tincture. It might help without the undesired side effects. And get it from a reputable source. I order from Lazarus Naturals.

It makes me hyper. I burn so many more calories, get so many more steps, and have an incredibly clean home as a result of my activity while feeling the buzz. This allows for me to eat a little extra as a result and still see results. It's hard to not give into the cravings - push Water and try to just keep yourself busy.

I like sativa and hybrid blends - nothing that is going to make me want to sit there stoned and not moving. I find Wana brand gummies to be the best and there is a Butterfly Effect honey that is sensational, as well.

I just remembered this... I give "full spectrum cbd oil for pets" to my Jack Russell. She gets joint pain which her vet says is the cause of her anxiety. It helps both her pain and anxiety. It's pretty amazing seeing it calm her and help her pain so she can sleep. It tends to happen in the middle of the night, so I sit up with her until she's able to sleep again. I know she's not human, even tho she'd argue that point if she could speak, but it might just help your anxiety also!

Awe, your pup sure picked a good human to take care of her. I will definitely look into it. Thanks.

Good to know. If I ever do give it another try I will have to ask for sativa or hybrid. I am honestly not even sure what I got but There was no fighting the cravings with the stuff I got. I’m sure it was supposed to be calming though because I got what the dr recommended for anxiety.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
