American Idol '08

Yeah, when Dolly sang my DH heard it from the back room and was like, "who the hell is that? it's ghastly!" HA HA.

Kristi Lee Cook was so immature when she came out with that seat sign. She is such a sore loser and I just thought that was a dumb move on her end. It was a very uncomfortable moment.

I thought it was RIDICULOUS how AI made the final three people sit through the american idol gives back moment and watch those poor little girls in africa and their struggles and then the whole Dolly/jesus song and then have to stand there and get voted off. Another weird moment. Like, after seeing all that how could they be crying over being voted off... especially when there is all this suffering in the world.. "wah, I got voted off one of the most watched shows in america and wah.. I made it to the top 10 and will have a carreer now".. yet the poorest person in america is still richer than 80% of the world.

watching all that just made me realize how spoiled us americans really are...

I think Dolly should have been voted off. LOL, j/k. I really felt bad for her, she was being out sung by the backup singers and I thought she kept losing her breath. I really like her though

But really....I think David A. needs to go next so my plea to America :

PEOPLE.....STOP VOTING FOR THAT KID PLEASE!

Yeah, Kristi Lee Cook is a big sore loser. The whole seat sign was the dumbest thing ever! She acts like she dosen't even want to be there. I think she'll be gone next week by her antics last night. Does anyone know what songs they are going to sing next week? I can't wait till they can pick their own!

I must admit that Dolly looked better than she has in the past - although she had on a lot of makeup - at least last night she didn't look too clowny (as she has in the past) - she looks pretty good to be 62, plastic surgery and all. As for her singing - no she isn't at the top of her game, but she still sounded like Dolly, that is her style.

I was glad to see Ramiele go - though I wish they would have carted Kristi Lee with her...she looked like she was ready and the girl knows her time is up. That note was absolutely absurd!

Carly, Carly Carly - doesn't the girl know that if you are larger in certain areas (uhhum - legs) DO NOT wear skin tight clothes - that only makes you look bigger. Her pants last night looked awful too. I'd like to see her in a dress for a change. Wardrobe help?!

I think it almost a given that Kristi Lee will be next. At least she dresses cute - maybe she can give Carly some pointers.

Jason Castro - boy I know those dreadlocks are his signature, but he needs to do something with that hair. I keep expecting him to whip out a doobie and light up...dude. He is a cutie and would look so much better with CLEAN hair!!!

You guys are hilarious!!! And sure are spot on as far as I'm concerned!

Except about Dolly. I thought she not only sounded gastly but she looked gastly to me. It was about her teeth. They looked like slip-ons. You know false teeth instead of caps. Surely not!! She can afford the very best. And she may need to go back to covering up her chest. Those massive lumps so high up looked almost painful.

Of course I love her to pieces. I was surprised that she seemed so nervous last night. She's done just about every venue you can imagine, why be so nervous on AI? I think she's one of the brightest performers around though. It really wouldn't hurt her to update her look, do ya think? I mean she doesn't have to look her age (61, I think) but she should bring it out of the 70s.

I'm totally in agreement about the boyz!

And poor Kristie Lee. It was just sad last night.

Are you crazy????

NO NO NO, absolutely not!!! He is a fantastic singer, he's humble, he's adorable, and he's definately got my vote!!! Remember when he sang "Imagine", he was amazing.

Love him ~ Love him ~ Love him....

OK...Everybody, y'all need to give Dolly a break. She is 62 & has been around for more than 40 + years. I love her & I don't even like country music. That idiot Kristy, with her dumbass little sign, has GOT to go!!!!!! If any of you enjoy reading, then you must read Dolly's autobiography. It's one of the funniest things I've ever read, that woman is hilarious. I swear you'll enjoy it.

Personally, I think Kristi Lee Cook needs to go home just because of her piss poor attitude. I'm sick to death of her acting like a victim ever freaking week. I'm so over her.

I adore David A. A LOT, but one thing he does that annoys me is these deep breaths right before he sings a line. It's like ____Inhale____ "imagine all the people".. _____inhale____ "living life in peace".. And, when I hear all his past songs he's done he does it every single one.. these deep loud inhales.. none of the others do it like that. And that's what annoys me about him. BUT, his singing is awesome and he is one of my favorites. David Cook though is still at the top of my list. It's David C., David A., and then a tie between Carly, Jason and John.. I think Brooke is a total sweetheart too.. her singing is good too. Shoot, I guess I just like everybody except that Kristi chick... so unprofessional!

Cool Crystal -

Girl - I agree about the Inhaling. But - at least he quit that LIP LICKING. That used to drive me crazy. I think it was a nervous gesture, but it was so annoying.

HA! I thought I was the only one who noticed that and wanted to gouge my eyes out when he did it (the lip licking). Some people I just can't WATCH sing.

David C... DAMN that guy is hard for me to look at. The hair is better, but his slitty little eyes...well he just gives me the willies to watch. Love his groove, though.

I agree with everyone about Kristy's attitude! It sucked!! What a sore loser! I hope she goes next!

You guys probably aren't going to like my opinion about David A, but here it is. I don't like the guy very much. I think he's a good singer, but I just don't care for him. I think it's his personality. It's over the top for me. Too goody goody for me. I still think he's a good singer but I hope he doesn't win. He just gets on my nerves! [ducking for cover now]

Agree with you on this one, don't like to watch David C....ewk! and David A. gives me the willies..... I don't like to watch him either, I rather listen to both, good voices.... my favorite is Michael Johns..... He is cute hottie and I love his voice! I want him to win....:bolt:

I'm glad that Ram is gone and I agree that Christy needs to go already for Pete's sake...

I love Dolly, and I don't like country either, but she is too funny!

ok, let the best win.... but I don't know if that ever happens....

Nope - Not me ... I can't stand him. I've read a few blogs that his dad is the "Ultimate Stage" dad, who demands his son get more time practicing w/the band. I've "heard" he's had run-ins w/Simon....NOW that is the TV I want to see.

Still love the boys: Jonathan, David C & Michael......Brooke (so annoying) & Carley will go far - but my guess Not win.

I have not heard about all that! That's just crazy! He He He, I would love to see his dad and Simon in a run-in. You're right, that would be some great TV!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
