TOO FUNNY. I went to a Beatles tribute band last night, came home to watch my Tivo'd AI. I didn't realize it was Beatles night. Certainly got my fill.

Jason.. oh Jason. I like him lots, I love the song "If I Fell".. and he bombed. It was so bad, I wanted to throw something at the tv and make him sing it better. Waaaaah.

The girl (I say she looks like Amy Lee from Evanescence).. I don't remember her name, she sang Come Together. LOVED IT! WOO!! I was all into that. She is my runner for this week. And then ..Cook (forget his first name) after her. Very good!

Now since I'm a huge huge beatles fan, I was disappointed I didn't hear Dear Prudence or Hey Jude.. or even Blackbird. There were several song choices that made no sense to me, Beatles had so many good songs, why pick a weird one. Like the country girl. THAT WAS A TRAINWRECK! I ffwd through it, I couldn't even stomach the country twang they did to the Beatles. I hope she goes home.

You missed Chickezee! OMG he ROCKED THE HOUSE as Randy would say. What an awesome performance from him! I was wondering when they'd finally send him home, and I've changed my mind about him now. He totally deserves to be here. And if little David doesn't pull it together next week, he'll be going home, I'm afraid. He said that he was intimidated by the Lennon/McCartney songbook, and that floored me. He already did Lennon's BIGGEST song EVER! What's to be intimidated by??? I didn't get that at all.

Besides that, though, I thought everyone did a great job last night except maybe the country girl. That just wasn't a good fit, it jangled my nerves.

Yes, I missed Chickezee! I'm not a big Chickzee fan, so I wish I had heard it. What little bit I did hear, on the recap, sounded good though.

Little David's song was a complete mess! He's not one of my favorites anyway. The country girl (Kristy, I think?) really screwed that song up. I did not like it at all. I think she was sooooo focused on proving to Simon that she is a country singer, she forgot that you have to actually sing something that could be a hit NOW. It just sounded too old fashioned for my taste.

You can go to itunes and download the videos. I would highly recommend checking out the Chickezee song! They're probably on youtube now, too.

I read an interesting article today about little David, they said that because he started at the top and was soo good, that eventually people would get bored of him. So he actually messed up last night on purpose to create a little drama. He is still one of the favorites so he is in no danger of getting kicked off, and next week he can wow the judges again and make it appear that he is progressing. That theory makes sense to me because he forgot the lyrics? He has been performing since he was like 7. That is a very amateur thing to do, so I think they might be on to something.

Any way, David Cook is still my fav. And I like Brook and Amanda. Carly isn't doing to bad for herself either. Jason is a hottie but I don't think he will make it to the top 4. We shall see tonight. I am sure Kristi is going home. She took that country thing WAY to far. The song could have been good if it was slower, the pace was way to fast for that song.

BTW did you hear that David Hernandez use to strip in a gay club. I noticed they didn't put that in his little clip.:biggrin2:

I can't believe they kicked David Hernandez off and kept Kristie. She was a train wreck!

aimee~ I agree. I didn't like the attitude Kristie had when she said, where's the mic" even before Ryan announced it. Poor sportsmanship IMO. I really didn't think I would like this years AI but it's growing on me.

I was surprised that little David forgot his lyrics and he wasn't in at least bottom 3. I thought I heard about his Dad being a stage Dad from hell and found this.

ET Online is reporting that David Archuleta may be feeling the pressure from his “stage father” Jeff Archuleta, who reportedly yelled at David during a recording session last Monday. Sources say Dad wasn’t happy with his son’s singing — and even brought him to tears.

What? Oh poor David Archuleta!

It turns out I am not familiar with the rules of Star Search. David Archuleta was one of the champions, and then eventually lost in the battle of the junior champions. Jeff Archuleta was reported to have been banned on the show after harassing the eventual winner 10-year-old Tiffany Evans. (Who friggin’ harasses a 10-year-old???) More details here.

So he was on Amazing Race:family edition, Start Search and AI. Poor kid, I think his Dad his living out his dreams through him.

It's too bad that David A. is not 18 yet so he can dump what sounds like an abusive father. God, the Amazing Race too???

God I am so pissed that America is that dumb & voted off David H. instead of that horrible Kristi. Her whole performance was torture. I don't know if I can take another week of her. Did anyone notice Simon's face when Ryan said David was going home instead of Kristi? I actually think that's who HE wanted to go home. If that girl buggs her eyes out anymore during her performances, they're going to pop right out of her twangy head!!!!

When can they pick their own songs to sing? And do Ryan and Simon really hate eachother? Oh 1 more, do they have to get permission from the actual artist for them to be able to sing their songs on AI?

Ok, this is going to be a very unpopular opinion, but it is mine none the less. I kinda like Kristi. I do think she had a HORRIBLE night, but I also think she has a beautiful voice. She just hasn't found her niche yet. Not my favorite, but I do like her. I don't like Hernandez. For me, he doesn't add anything special. He is over the top.

I kinda liked gay stripper dude, but oh well.

I think that Kristie girl is trying way too hard. That song could have been cute as a country song, but she way overdid it. I seriously don't think she'll last too long.

ronwifey, Where did you get the info that David Archuleta was on the Amazing Race: Family Edition? I watched that season, and there was no Archuleta family racing.

I also don't buy into the sensational type reporting that ET-online is using. If David's dad is indeed a tyrant, he won't be able to hide it forever and more evidence will surface. I guess I'll have to believe it then. I'm a big David fan.

I'm really enjoying this season. There are only a few singers that I wouldn't be sad if they left. Ramiele and Syesha are the only ones I can think of now.

Kristy, or Christy, not sure, anyway, I'm glad she's still in for another week. Let's see if she can redeem herself from murdering that song this week. I like country, but during that performance I was commenting that it was about the worst performance I've seen on Idol! (Except the bad auditions, of course.)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
