Should I bring broth to hospital?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to have a revision to bypass. I have the sleeve. With the sleeve, I went home right after surgery. I'm kind of stressing about staying at the hospital overnight. Like what to pack? I was wondering what they give you at the hospital as far as drink/food. Should I bring drinks, Protein or broth... Etc.?

Thanks in advance!

i wouldn't bring much since you'll likely be sleeping most of the time you're there. As for food and beverages, they'll have a lot of that at the hospital. It's been several years since my RNY, but I remember having Protein Shakes and broth while there.

Thank you so much. That is calming for me. I was trying to put a list together and that is one less worry for me.

As far as I know you are only allowed to eat what they give you at the hospital. Mine was broth and crystal light. The nurses had Water and popsicles and stuff like that.

I was only given Water during my stay one night stay. LOL Which was fine with me cause I didn't feel like having anything else anyway.

One thing I took that I was really glad I did was an extra long charging cord I ordered on Amazon that charged iPad and phone.

I was told to bring my special asthma meds and my non-lactose shakes because they were not usually stocked, and lip gloss. The nurse told me about the long charging chord too. No jewelry or piercings or anything precious because hospitals are big theft places.

The hospital will supply your food/liquids. The only thing I really needed was my own pillow and Aquaphor for my lips. I can't live without it!
I stayed 4 nights and slept most of the time except when I got up to walk the halls.
Do bring your asthma meds.. I brought mine. They will supply any other meds you need.
Good luck!

Thank you and all for responding. I'm nervous this time around lol. Wow, you stayed 4 nights? I hope you are okay now. That seems like a long time. 😢

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
