POSTPONED Again - 3rd Time A Charm? 🌈 Anyone Else Deal With Postponed Date?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying not to get too frustrated about this. My surgery was scheduled for May, then June, and now JULY.

All good reason(s) for reschedule though. I have some chest congestion that has hung around and turned into a bit of pneumonia. It was pushed out, and then my regular doctor said to push it out a little further so I can see a specialist in the meantime. I'm dissapointed but feel very comfortable with the reasoning for it. I don't want to go into surgery with weakened lungs.

But I feel my resolve busted a little bit, and maybe a bit of relief. It's 100% the right choice, medically speaking. I was half-way into my liquid diet when I got the news, and now i'm going 2 months waiting until surgery. I know it will probably go by fast, but it's hard not to think of that as a time where I would be making progress, healing, and now I'm not.

At any rate, if you're dealing with this, you're not alone.

I know it feels hard now, but they've been telling me the time will fly by. I started this process at the end of January and I will probably have my surgery in July or August because of the insurance requirements and backlog of surgeries due to covid. In the meantime, I've been trying to "walk the walk" and lose some weight now. At least it gives me something to focus on. I also spend way too much time on these boards heh heh heh.

I’m sorry you have to wait but it’s a good time to practice eating slower/ chewing better, no straws, etc.

Yup, yup. Totally agree. It will be a year in August that I started all this, so it's been a haul. But I've learned a lot, and continue to learn in the meantime.

I was originally scheduled for Dec 21. Then corona spiked and all surgeries were cancelled. They started reopening in February but i had to wait for a break at work. Now my date is June 21st. I was mad and disappointed but i will have plenty of recovery time now. I just try to look at the positive side. I did let myself have a moment back in December. I have been working on my own to loose some weight in the meantime.

It's made me question everything again. I have such a hard time making decisions, but also feeling "worthy" of things. So this has made me feel a bit like I told you so, never going to happen, not worthy... I wish I were talking to my therapist this month, but I'm not (no openings).

Even though I'm on the schedule for July, I certainly don't feel like I am.

My surgery has been delayed many times due to a hiatal hernia, asthma attacks, GERD, and a questionable Barrett’s esophagus. I had to refocus my attention on my feelings to say weight loss is a goal. It’s a long term goal like achieving my bachelors degree and master’s degree. It’s a long term process that has nothing to do with my worthiness but how much effort I put forth, AND my perseverance.

Sometimes I journal my disappointment, distract myself with tictock videos, do a short term task that has immediate results like cleaning. I picture each moment as a small pearl slowly sliding onto a necklace. I get scared thinking about the absolutely giant necklace of healthy living for a lifetime, so instead I try to concentrate on one pearl of living healthy in this moment. I distract myself enough living in the moment, then look back and become proud of the pearl necklace I have built so far. It’s ok to feel all the feelings. Just sit with them, let them become a pearl moment. Yeah, therapy is awesome :)

You are so worthy of this and so much more. You are enough. You are important. You are deserving of so many good things. 💜 Even without the surgery you are worthy of all the good things. I’m sorry you are having delays. Keep going! You can do this!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
