Major stall 3 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I had the sleeve done at the end of December. I lost about 25lbs those first three weeks. As of today, I have gone three weeks without losing an ounce. I get that my body probably needed a break after that initial weight loss but is this normal to go so long without losing weight, this early? I usually eat between 600-700 calories a day. I'm not super active and find I get dizzy very easily when I exercise. Did anyone else experience this? Any thing I should be doing differently? Thank you in advance.

EVERYONE and I mean everyone has a STALL ! yes they suck !!!! I know exactly how your feel and what your going thru !!! In layman's terms : Your body is in starvation made : It thinks its starving, so your body's mechanism changes. 1) You are still definitely burning your fat !!!, what the scale does not show is your body holding on to Water. 2) Stay the course ! With such a low calorie intake you are still burning fat cells !!!!, Stay the course !! 3) The scale will move again , and you will be happy ! I've dropped as much as 4lbs in two days after stall. 4) Yes its frustrating Very frustrating...STAY the COURSE it works .....

I had a few stalls and its super normal!!! Just focus on the NON scale wins. Try measuring yourself, or just notice how different you feel!!! Non scale wins count as well!! The scale will follow suit in time!

Thank you! I've been trying to drink as much Water as I can but I really appreciate your response! Fingers crossed I'll get some of those 4lb loss days soon. Thanks again!

Thank you! So far, I don't really have any non scale wins. My clothes are as tight as they were three weeks ago. Did any of your stalls last several weeks?

my first stall lasted two weeks, and I was livid! I was sad, depressed, mad, angry, hurt, cranky, every mood, emotion you can imagine all in one crabby person. I ready everyones posts here and had faith, kept drinking a lot of Water, Bone Broth and tea. One day I upped my calories (thought it was silly)my dietitian went over my baristatic app and said I wasn't getting in enough calories and I added a few things in to my day and like magic I started dropping pounds.

Stick to the program your surgeon gives you, it will work. Your body will go through adjustment periods and it will be emotionally hard but it will come out in time.

Thank you, that's great advice! My surgeon didn't give me any guidance past the post-op diet plan. I think I need to find a nutritionist with experience with this surgery. Thanks again!

yep - it's the infamous three-week stall that almost everyone goes through! It typically lasts 1-3 weeks. Just stick to your plan and it'll break. Always does...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
