Good morning m, got a question. For those in the purée face. Is anyone else not going to the bathroom with #2. It’s day 2 for me. I’m not feeling bad or any pain I just need things moving. Has anyone added any tea or something else?

My dr told me to have Miralax everyday. Also, if you mix prune juice and apple juice together and heat it up that works great! Just make sure to get the no sugar added juices.

Had my bypass 31st. Woke up from the operation thinking they hadnt done it yet lol. The gas pain was ok and there was very little nausea. I think I had a good recovery, could drink liquids right after, no problems. Post op 1 day I was back at home . But I have to do those anti clotting injections myself for 20 days, that sucks. And the liquid diet is hard with head hunger. I don't drink shakes because the one I have give me gas.

I put my scale away until my next appt (Nov 17). Anyone else? I know I’m doing everything I am supposed to do and the weight will come off. I started getting frustrated, weighing multiple times a day and I got sick of it, lol! Last time I looked on 10/30 I was 203lbs (down 40 lbs from starting weight and 10 from surgery on 10/19).

Yes I am bad for hopping on the scale OFTEN. And even though yes we are losing, it's hard to not get disappointed. I just had my first post-OP appointment today and had my drain taken out, I was surprised to see today that I am down 18 pounds since my surgery on Oct 26th.

I didn’t do the shakes either but quickly realized that they help tremendously just keep buying one at a time until you find one you like so far the one I like is
Fa!rlife (chocolate) one shake will last me either 2 meals or sometimes 3

same! i put my scale away a couple days ago and plan to just do weekly weigh ins on tuesdays (that was the day I had my surgery)

i hear around the 3 week mark (where I am) there is a weight loss stall phenomena called the "dreaded 3 week stall" it doesn't happen to everyone. I decided I didn't want to step on the scale daily and get frustrated

anyone not get their cycle after surgery? i'm two days late and haven't started it yet. I usually get my period like clockwork. No chance of pregnancy

I had my VSG done on 10/29. The first few days were bad with the gas, and me wondering if I made a huge mistake. I got my drain out yesterday and have felt so much better. During my first couple of days of feeling like I made a horrible decision. I Google and found this site, and am so happy I have.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. The gas will continue to subside and you’ll get feeling better every day.

You are wise. There are just so many factors affecting small fluctuations in weight day to day so weekly is the wiser choice. I My personal journey has me up and down one to two daily only to lose 4-5 by weeks end. I'm on the week three diet right now and I am curious what will happen when I start introducing food. I dropped 10 during pre-op with a total of 34lb since starting the process.

Something else I used to mention to clients back in my personal training days (many, many moons ago obviously if I had a VSG), is to be sure to weigh at the same time every day. People tend to weigh less in the morning, but you can also do evening. It is less about the number on the scale than the differential from one weigh in and the next.

I was surprised when I weighed myself today, Day 18 after surgery and only down 14lbs! I wasn’t told to be on any sort of diet before the surgery except for a liquid diet 1 day prior to surgery.

Is it unusual to loose so slowly?

I've only lost 10lbs since surgery 16 days ago. I was quite pleased with this!? I'm only managing to take in about 800 calories per day and was told to do 800-1000, so I guess it's just down to the individual. Some will lose more, some less?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
