Stopped losing weight on Optifast

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I go in for MGB on Thursday this week. I've been on the shakes for 11 days but only lost 8 lbs. I did cheat with one Pizza Crust and some potato chips. (just this in the 11 days) I drink more than enough Water throughout the day. I am getting scared that if 'm not losing on Optifast, what if I don't lose anything after surgery? Has anyone else gone through this? Is this normal? I've seen where other people have lost twice this in the same amount of time.

Everyone loses as different rates...stick to plan and we all pretty much end up at the same place in the end (barring any complications)

P.S. I lost 11 lbs in my liquid pre-op diet (which was for 2 weeks). I ended up losing more than 1/2 my total body weight.

Thank you for this response. It makes me feel so much better.

I agree, everyone loses at different rates. Presently on liquid pre-op diet, surgery this Friday 28th. Just want this over with and start the healthy journey. I am ready.

I used shakes on and off for years and I’m petite build 5’1” and I have a hard time loosing on them. I loose the first 10 easily but after that it’s a real struggle. I lost maybe 6 pounds on my 2 week liquid diet. I had bypass on 7/16 and I’m down 22lbs! 42 with my presurgery loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
