Booked for bypass on August 10. Much sooner than I thought. I only really started seriously considering surgery two months ago. 😮

I'm August 10th too 😁

My surgeon doesn’t allow Jello. It’s interesting to see the differences in the diets!

Mine allows sugar free Jello.

I’m starting the prep in the morning. I found this program on the App Store called Hourly Chime. It lets you set hourly reminders to drink your prep and Water. I also have Bariatastic but the reminders don’t always go off as they should. I had a final disappointing Italian dinner and 6 fun size snickers. I feel ready and very excited about the prep. I’m ready to roll!

It does sound like you're ready. Thanks for th he suggestion on the app. It will come in handy for other reminders, like drinking Water. I always forget. 🙄

I noticed your surgery date is Aug 6. I wish you well, and let me know how you're doing.

My pre op appointment is Aug 11th. Hopefully August will be my month if not, there’s always September 😁

I took the time before I received a surgery date to figure out which shakes I liked best. I also tried eating certain meals as if I was post op. For example, I made very loose farina for the second post op stage. I also chewed more thoroughly to get used to doing that instead of eating fast. Practicing sipping Water is important too because I read that we can get pain afterwards if we gulp. There’s really plenty to work. One last thing I did was to listen to Bariatric themed podcasts by Reeger Cortell. She is a nurse practitioner for a Bariatric program and she has these lengthy podcasts on subjects of interest to those seeking weight loss surgery. Before you know it your surgery date will be on the horizon!

I am scheduled for 8/28/20. So far i like premier Proteins caramel and their chocolate. However post op i use a kit from Bariatric Advantage that is mandatory part of the program.

I had my procedure on August 7th. I felt good a first but then couldn’t pee. They put a catheter in me and drained over a liter of pee. I stayed two days totally and I’m doing the stage 1 diet. Got only 20 grams of Protein yesterday but I am striving for double that today. I walked a lot in the hospital and walking at home too. Lots of gas bubbles! Not much pain at all. I’m not really hungry by my hubby just walked in with fast food and I can smell it. I swear they put something in the food to make it tempt you by smell alone. Regarding the procedure, It wasn’t as bad as I thought and it wasn’t as easy either if that makes sense.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
