I am a bit concerned that my pouch is too big. I never have had any pain or problems with swallowing. I was able to drink 6 oz Water at once first day after surgery with normal swallowing like before VSG. I can swallow large pills and tonight was able to drink 11.9 oz Protein Shake in 5 minutes. After reading all you struggling with 1-2 oz in 15 minutes, I feel very different. I am ONE WEEK post VSG.

RNY here. I never had any of those problems, either, and our stomachs are smaller than yours. You may just be lucky!

Some sleevers do not feel a lot or any restriction until they progess to soft or solid foods.

Your stomach and surgery incisions are still healing sometimes you won't feel much sensation until like week 2 just take it slowly

If you're worried ask your surgeon for specifics like with vsg they can take out anywhere from 70 to 90 % of your stomach... With the RNY most surgeons leave just a tiny egg size pouch but my surgeon here in Australia says that's not really the best idea so he said my pouch is definitely much smaller than a sleeve but bigger than the traditional egg pouch..

Always just double check with surgeon. There are lots of different experiences for each individual. I have only gotten sick once in my 2nd month. I’m 8 months out & have never gotten sick since. My brother is almost 20 YEARS out & still gets sick. We’re not carbon copies of each other. Just stick with program.

I’m 3 months out and still feel most comfortable with soft foods and steamed soft vegetables. liquids were easy in the beginning but now I cannot drink fast at all, without discomfort.

Four weeks ago surgeon released me to any foods that I can tolerate, but my pouch doesn’t even want to think about beef, pork, chicken, etc. EVEN if I promised pouch I would chew well, she’s not havin’ it just yet🤷‍♀️.

I'm sure it's fine. I had that with RNY. I was a little worried they hadn't really done the surgery!

I'm the same with my sleeve 9 days out!

I bet if I wanted to I could chug a big giant glass of water!

I'm scared to because I'm afraid to stretch my stomach as I'm already thinking its too big!

I had a balloon 2 years ago and it actually made me hungrier! I never got nausau or any discomfort so I'm afraid I'm headed down the same path!

Helppp

you'll start feeling restriction once you start eating solid food, so no worries.

I was able to drink much more quickly than I thought I should have, and I never had any pain or swallowing issues. I seriously started to think that maybe he didn't really do the surgery. But I sure noticed the restriction once I started eating solid food!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
