Balloon procedure 3 weeks ago and still feel sick

Hello,

I got the procedure done 3 weeks ago in Mexico. I’m back in the States and still feeling very full and nauseous all the time. I’m vomiting every evening before going to bed. I started with the liquid diet for a week, then the bland diet, but now had to go back to the liquid cause my stomach can’t take anything else. Has anyone had this problem? Does it last for much longer? Any tips on how to handle it? Any input would be greatly appreciated! **I've lost 15 lbs so far.

sorry to hear that - yikes! I don't think the balloon procedure is very common yet, at least not the U.S., but hopefully there will be someone on here who's had it who may have some insight. Sorry you're going through this - that sounds miserable!

It's not uncommon to experience some discomfort and nausea after a balloon procedure, as your stomach and digestive system adjust to the changes. However, if your symptoms are persistent and severe, or if you are vomiting frequently, it's important to contact your surgeon or healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance. They may be able to provide additional recommendations or medications to help alleviate your symptoms.

It's also worth mentioning that every person's experience can be different, so what works for one person may not work for another. You may need to try different strategies or adjustments to your diet and lifestyle to find what works best for you.

In general, it's important to take things slowly and not try to push your body too hard too soon. Gradually increasing the types and textures of food you're eating as your stomach adjusts. Drinking enough water, eating small and frequent meals, and avoiding foods that are high in fat and sugar can also help. And if you feel like you need some help, don't hesitate to reach out to your surgeon or healthcare provider for guidance.
