O I forgot some info.
I have Cigna open access plan.
So my requirements are minimal- no diet requirements or wait period. I had my consult December 7 and did psych evaluation, dietician meeting, pre op class, lab work and approval by PCP.
For pre op diet my surgeon only has a clear liquid diet for 48 hours before surgery.

I have the same insurance! I had Cigna send me the whole policy and actually brought it with me to my initial consult. Good thing I did too because at first the surgeon was adamant that I call back insurance to get more details. Then I showed him the policy and was told "Oh wow! You are golden!"

I'm scheduled for the sleeve on January 20th :D. Pre-op appt with surgeon is 1/9 and pre-op with the hospital is 1/10. I still need to have my pre-op tests done and have had difficulty scheduling appointments because of the holidays. Blood work is no biggie and will be done on New Year's Eve. But EKG, gallbladder ultrasound, and chest xray are all scheduled for 1/6.

Would it even be possible to have the results sent that quickly from the lab to primary care and then to the surgeon within 3 days?

Hello. My surgery date will be on January 6, 2020.

I started my pre-surgery diet a day early (whoopsie), so I'm on day 8/15 for that.

I'll be having the sleeve done in Vegas. :)

I hear ya! My psychologist told me to “say goodbye to the foods that made me fat.”

it makes me want them more. 🤔

I did "food funerals." I had the foods once more before my surgery and it was able to make it easier for me to transition. I've also been on the search for bariatric friendly recipes so that way, post op, I might be able to have a healthier version of said delicious food, but in a healthy, not gonna make me extra sick way, hopefully. *fingers crossed*

I went to my nutrition class today, and also did my pre-admit testing, pre-op labs, and my final surgical consult. Whew, it was information overload but I feel prepared-ish now 🤪 One more day of food and then my pre-op diet starts Jan. 1!

What are you going to eat and what test did you take? When's your surgery? Sorry for asking, especially if you have already provided your date.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
