I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!

Recommended Posts

Stick to your teams plan. Its still early. The effort you put in now will pay off over the next few months. This surgery is 10%Physical and 90% mental. Hang in there.

I am 8 days post op and I’m over it!!! I haven’t been getting in my Protein. I am craving food and can’t eat crap. For all of this I would rather stay fat!

Sorry you are struggling. Many of us had buyer’s remorse right after surgery. This is a big adjustment.

Your new stomach is healing. At first, it’s hard to get your Protein and Water in. It gets easier over time. Hunger is real in the first stages. I was angry about seeing food commercials and anyone eating real food around me. Hunger is more manageable as you progress to real food.

Congratulations on your surgery.

Just curious - are you having complications that prevent you from getting in the Protein. Are you on shakes?

I am having surgery on the 13th ... this post is an eye opener.

No I don’t have any complications. Half of your stomach is removed so it’s hard to take in a lot of anything right now.

I will be glad when I progress to real food. Right now it’s just horrible.

Sorry to hear you're struggling. It wasn't that long ago I was right there with ya. It's definitely a process and can wear on you physically and mentally. If you're tracking with a food diary it may benefit you speak to your team for support as well as to address any issues you're having. This is a tough journey but you can do it... you're not alone!!! Congrats on your surgery!!!!!

I just had surgery a week ago so I feel you! Everyday I have to mentally tell myself that I did this for the right reasons and it will get better, because I know it will get better so hopefully you will eventually get to that point and see that. Right now every time I see real food I want it, but I know that’s only because I am on full liquids. Hopefully as you progress stages it will get easier, you got this!!

You got surgery for a reason and that's to get healthier and to curb your eating habits..

You should have been prepared for these changes before surgery...

Prior to surgery you're meant to get psychologist help and learn all the changes before you have surgery okay.. I did and I'm doing well..

A suggestion that has really helped me, I purchased a clear Protein (isopure) and I add it to my water bottle and sip sip sip all day long, that way I get both my fluids and an additional 20 grams of protein just by drinking. It’s really helped me hit at least 60 grams of protein.

Do you have a Sams Club near you? They have Protein Water with no carbs and 15 g protein per bottle. And it doesn't totally taste like a$$...

Protein2O

I haven't had my surgery yet but have been drinking it for a while and certainly will use it after surgery.

Hang in there, it WILL get better!

2 of the Biggest NSV thus far in my life; 1) my 6yr old daughter can wrap her arms around me for the first time ever! 2) My 12yr old son is having a basketball game for the parents vs. their players and I am playing with him! Its been awhile since I played basketball so I have been practicing lol but I would never had even volunteered to do this 70lbs ago!

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
