i followed my dr to teh T -- but after my second fill, I had an unfill -- but I think I waited for the unfill too long. I was banded in sept 07 with first fill 6 wks out and second about 8 wks out. I wasnt able to swallow my own spit (yep, thats how long I waited!!) I went in and had IV to put fluids back in me. I felt really good after my unfill so a month later I had another slight fill. It was back to being TOO tight even with that little amount. Here I am 3 months of living with it being TOO TIGHT and now I have to have a replacemnt next week due to a slipped band. who knwos when or how it happened but it did.

I am going in tomorrow to my doctor to find out if I have a slipped band, or find out what is wrong with me??? I had 6 weeks ago a tt and a breast reduction. I have had a very great recovery and have felt great for several weeks. About a week ago I started having extream pain in my cheast (same place I always feel pain if I overeat and bp) and it has only gotten worse and I finally had to realize that somthing really is wrong. I dont know if it is somthing that might have happened due to my plastic surgery or what? I have been feeling so great that I am so close to my goal weight, (I started at 230 and am down to 167, my goal is 150 at 5'6") I have been running and toning up and really feeling good about myself, this will be such a setback. uhgg I am so discouraged:( wish me luck tomorrow.

Hi, I'm in the process of getting all the pre op paperwork done for banding but I am approved. I have so many questions about slippage. From what I've been told the band causes a scar tissue around the stomach so it doesn't slip after the original healing, it acts as an adhesive. How can a band slip years later? Is the surgery the same for the repair as it was the first time? Since it slipped, did they put it back in the same place? Is there any way to keep a band from slipping? I am self pay and am terrified all the costs will be mine. Also, how far into the future can I expect to eat normal food? I'll be on liquids for 4 weeks after surgery, then soft food, the well chewed. What foods are never to be eatten?

*Dr. Daniel Huacuz* also messed up on my band. I had surgery on December 2007 and since then was having extremelly strong pains. Since I have the band as well I kept on telling her that sometimes we do have pain but she needed to check with her doctor. Before surgery Dr. Huacuz called her many times and answered each and every question she had, however this picture changed after surgery, I could not get a hold of him often and every time she talked to him he was very rude to her. Once I called him and while he talked to me I could hear a beeping sound on the background, sounded like he was in the surgery center at the same time - hopefully not performing a surgery.!

Last week, my friend passed out and was taken to the ER with her nails and lips turning purple... when the bariatric surgeon got inside he found an inamed band that was place in the wrong portion of her stomach and on top of that it was an old type of band, one that is not even produced by inamed any longer. day before surgery, Dr. Huacuz showed her small, new band and said that was the style she was getting.... All I know is that i am now doing well after the nightmare... i am is glad to have that band removed and to be receiving the care of a new doctor.

I am 3 weeks post surgury an have had some solid food and done ok. This weekend I did over eat and threw up and now I find that I can not eat solids at all. I have had minimal pain, but wonder if its possible that my band has slipped.

It may just be that you have some swelling due to throwing up. Don't panic; go back on liquids for a couple days and see how you are doing. If the inability to eat anything persists, call your doctor. The only way to really tell if your band slipped is with a fluoroscopy xray. Not a big deal to go through and not an internal scope.

I have had my band since October 2005. I got pregnant and had a baby July 2007. Before my pregnancy I lost 80 lbs. 266 to 186. I have a major slipage and am going to have all the Fluid out and be on liquids for 2 weeks to see if it will fix it's self. I need to talk to people that this has happened to. Please tell me there is hope.... I cant afford to pay for the surgery again.

I have had the band for 2 1/2 years now and after having a baby and not following the doctors oders, I now have a terrible slip. My options are to have the surgery again ( I cant afford this again I was a self pay) or try to see if it will fix itself and have all the Fluid out and get on liquids for 2 weeks. My advice.... Do EXACTLY what the doctor says to do or you will be wasting your money. I was very sucessful until my pregnancy. I lost 80 lbs in one year.

Hi,

when you write about vomiting, are you talking about liquids or solids? I'm trying to figure out what is going on with me as I've been having a reough time keeping food down these past few days. I don't know if I've had a slippage or not. Also, what exactly is a PB?

Thanks,

caryn

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
