  1. Lotzsunshine: Congrats on your loss so far!:thumbup:
  2. Hi! I am one week post op and I have lost 10 lbs!
  3. I was re-banded on the 14th, too. I don't have the shoulder pain though. I came back to work today and feeling pretty good :-) I go to the doc for follow up tomorrow. I gotta say I am looking forward to the liquid phase being over! Take care all!
  4. Thanks for the responses! Starrgirrl, good luck with your surgery, too.
  5. Cathy231- Thanks for your response. When you were re-banded, did you have to prep before surgery like the first time?
  6. What happened to me: I had chronic heartburn for about 6 months. I really didn't think too much of it at first but then I ended up in the ER with chest pain. No heart attack; stress test and echo normal. Upper endoscopy showed the band was not positioned in the right place and some erosion. Barium swallow confirmed slipped band. I think the radiologist said it was the worst slip he has seen! Went to surgeon for unfill. He said that the slip was so bad, an unfill wouldn't resolve it. I am scheduled for removal and replacement on 7-14. I have gained all but 10 lbs back of the 56 lbs I lost. I am starting all over again :Angel_anim:
  7. I have such a large slip that I have to have my old band removed and replaced with a new more improved band. Has anyone had this happen to them?
  8. So on the preop liquid diet, what are we talking about in calories? About 1000? My doc wants me to do Optifast but it's $180 for two weeks...that's more than my regular grocery bill! I have soy protein powder at home that I was using when I would get a fill. I think I will ask if I can use that instead of Optifast.
  9. Hi Dawn, Congratulations on getting approved! For me, everything that is old is new again...LOL I am having my slipped Lapband removed and replaced on July 14th.
  10. My re-band date is July 14th!
  11. Just checking back in. I was banded 11/4/02, but due to mechanical failure (slippage), I am being banded again on 7/14/08. I have to do Optifast for 2 weeks prior to surgery which means Monday! I am quite nervous because when I was banded before I just had to follow 1000 cal per day for the week prior to surgery...so much has changed.
  12. Heartburn, but mine mimicked esophageal reflux really. I didn't have gut pain but jaw and chest pain from it. I ended up in the ER in December to be sure there was nothing wrong with my heart. I had a stress test on New Year's Eve! No cardiac issues though! Now, of course, I wish I had talked to the band doc when the heart burn first started and then I could have maybe avoided another surgery. Thanks for your good wishes!
  13. My doc is getting stuff in order so I can be re-banded. Initially, I lost 56 lbs and have PCOS w/insulin resistance.
  14. are the chances good that all liquids for two weeks will fix the slippage?
  15. I have confirmation of a slipped band. Symptoms: bad heart burn and weight gain. Too much of my stomach is above the band. I have a friend who has a slipped band from persistent vomiting. Her's has slipped up so that she has a hard time keeping food down and she has gained back weight, too. I had an upper GI series and endoscopy to confirm. The doc totally unfilled my band and gave me my options: take out the band, replace the band or gastric bypass. I am opting for a new improved band since mine is almost 6 years old.
