Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY

Recommended Posts

Good day all -

I am going to try to put up a before & after-so-far image.

The before is September 2008 - my highest weight 279. Squeezing myself into a size 24 because I wouldn't admit I was really a 26. Notice my attempt to be healthy - a Starbucks black iced tea no sweetner. What you can't see is the Taco Bell bag in the front seat of my truck!

The after is today - down 50 pounds - weight 229 - and right between a size 18 & size 20. I actually have a neck under that turtleneck now!

I hate cameras, but I was having a hard time telling if it was really making a visible difference so I asked my brother for any before pics he may have taken without my knowing.

Yes, my hair is just that thin - a result of heredity (thanks Mom!) and PCOS. Can't tell you how many times I've considered shaving it all off and buying a blasted wig!

So, here goes.

A face before and after. The "before" was taken a few months after my surgery, I wish I had taken one now:angry_smile:.

Hopefully it works. This is my first time trying to post a picture!

I haven't posted in a while, but I made my 80lb goal before Christmas (my goal was to lose 80lbs before 2009).

This was December 2007 (around 315lbs, size 28/30)

This was yesterday (235lbs, size 20/22)

It's been just over 12 months since I had the lapband operation. I finally have some current pics that I don't mind showing, so here's the comparison shots. Keep in mind that I still have 20kg I want to lose.

The before pics :tongue2:

I posted face pictures a couple weeks ago, but since then finally someone has taken my pictures of my body.

First picture was this summer, weighing about 270 (just started the pre-op diet). I think I am barely squeezing into the size 24 pants.

The new picture was at 205 and in a pair of size 16 skinny jeans!!!

(oh and excuse the red eye!)

I have to admit to myself that this is probably it for me. So this is my after photo. I have gained back 6-10lbs in this picture, but I will have to accept it. I guess I should have let someone take a picture sooner. lol

Since starting this journey I have always loved this thread. I couldn't wait to post. I thought I would do it at 6 months, then I decided I would do it when I lost 50 lbs, then I thought I'd do it when I hit 60 lbs down. I finally realized I might not ever feel like the time was exactly right. Everyone's "during" pics have been so motivational. So, here I am 9 months after banding and -57 pounds. I can't believe I'm posting "befores", but I supposed everyone has them.

well I'm 6 months out and have been stuck at the same weight for about 3 or 4 months...sad. But here's my progress so far...

My before pic was actually 20lbs lighter than my heaviest...and it was taken almost a year before my surgery because I literally would not let a camera NEAR me for a year.

I really can't see much of a difference:huh2:Maybe it's cuz I've stalled...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
