I'm post op day 7

Operation was successful

Ended up with 6 incisions - with stitches

I had 2 draining tubes

All other incisions places are ok and healing well but those two where my drain were - it looks awfull

I have bloody HOLES and they are not closing

Still have secretion coming out those places

So ... experiences

Cause I'm scared and a angry

Hi!

Carefully clean around them with a saline based wound wash, keep dry and covered with gauze then call your Team. Infections need to be addressed by professionals

Good Luck 💜

Good Luck [emoji171]

Already doing that - changing gauze twice a day
Nurses are using Hydrogen , salin and Rivanol solution
Of course I contacted my surgeon today
Waiting for a response
Hoping for the best [emoji4]
Thanks for answering [emoji8]

They sound perfectly normal.

Drain sites close from the inside upwards. If the skin healed first then the hole underneath would end up being a pocket called a sinus which would fester and become infected.

A couple of steri strips and small dressing over them should be fine. Don't touch or pick them.

They don't sound infected. It is normal for wound sites to be hot pink and tender and ooze. An infection would be very red, hot and very painful and the redness would be growing in diameter each day.

Nothing to be scared or angry about, all perfectly normal :)

My surgeon told me the same thing
I guess I was just scared and emotional in general . Thanke you so much for explaining. It makes sense that it has to close from inside out . I'm just scared of infections and complications . You helped a lot

Oh perfectly normal to be scared of infection and this whole journey is emotional :) That is why forums like this are so good, you can come and get reassured :) AND it is ok to feel tearful or scared about stuff, we are all just humans doing the best we can and new stuff can be scary and I expect you are still pretty worn out and not yourself from the surgery x

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
