So frustrated already. First a 9-day stall, now I'm 5 days into another one. Tuesday marks 4 weeks and I've lost a whopping 12lbs since surgery. My expectations weren't crazy, I really thought I'd be at the -20 mark by now....

Me too. I had RNY on July 15 and am only down 10 lbs. It's as if my scale is broken -- it will not go below 250. Once I hit 240, I will be happy because I don't remember being below that number for years. 250 I remember. Maybe this is the way it goes. I hope others who had these stalls give us encouragement!

Geesh the difference of 25lbs and bloat down. I was 261lbs in the first pic and 236lbs in the latest pic. I still have a loooooong way to go, but its crazy how much its gone down. I'm in a stall right now. Hope I start losing again soon. PhotoGrid_1565239822600.jpeg

I had RNY on July 15. I feel great but taking in the required liquids is a bit hard. I am no way near 48-64 ozs/day. Constipation is a problem and I haven't lost much weight. I'm only down 10 lbs from surgery morning. I know everything will get better but I'm getting a little bit discouraged. I thought I'd be down at least 15 lbs by now. Has anyone else had a slow weight loss right after surgery?

Some people in the forums have had this problem. Do you have a care team (with a nutritionist)? If so, I would definitely give them a call/visit. I had mine last week and I was able to talk over major/minor concerns about where I was and how I was doing. The greatest thing was talking through the next month with them. This isn't the surgeon's office, but a supplemental group that was given to me by the hospital I had my surgery. I met with them before the surgery, as well.

I hope so. Have only lost 7 lbs in 12 days. Just trusting it will come off. I have been increasing my activity, going school supply shopping, buying groceries, etc. I am tender today and moving a bit slow.

7 lbs in 12 days makes you on track for over 15 in a month- half a pound a day! Even if it's slower than you expected, that seems like an appropriate rate. I've found it's encouraging for me to step back and look at a bigger span of time when I feel "stuck" for a week. I've also seen that my weight loss is in a "stair step" pattern-- no weight loss for several days, then 3-4 lbs seemingly overnight. It's not always linear. Hope that helps!

@SublimeLemons @ChristineSO

I'm sorry you're getting discouraged. I was TOTALLY there-- you can even look back at the beginning of this thread: I only lost 5 lbs in the first 12 days! I was really discouraged and doubting that it would work at a reasonable pace. But that turned into 25 lbs in just over 1 month! Everyone's journey is different; I know it can be frustrating to see other people's weight just fall off the first several weeks, but have confidence that your body is your greatest ally in this and it knows how to focus on what you need to recover and then will start using those fat stores!

Even though I've loved the couple weeks where I lost 6 lbs, I try to remember that even a 3 lb loss week after week will loss the weight much faster than I would've been able to do without surgery!

Haven't posted regularly the past few days. Had 1st post-op visit with Dr. I was dehydrated and having pain in kidneys and lower abdomen (not consistent/ruled out with gas, BM’s, etc).

Also, starting a few days ago, just drinking my Protein Shake or water...after 2-3 ozs, the next 'drink' makes me feel constriction to such a degree it feels like a knot in my chest

Dr sent me to for an upper GI (kinda?). Things looked ok from what they could see. They were able to run tests with me just sipping 4 ozs of a horrible soap drink. Tech that was left at the end said "wow, things go through you fast". LOL..uh yeah..RNY here.

Also had my INR (blood thinner levels) checked as I was so busy working last wk that I hadn't had it checked. Am on blood thinner for repeat PE’s and DVT's.

GOOD thing we had labs pulled. My INR is a 7! VERY HIGH! If blood thinning levels are too high, you can start bleeding internally. Last yr, I ended up in hospital for 2 wks when INR was '9' & I started urinating blood.

My dr said to immediately stop blood thinner and had me send husband to store to buy spinach. Had me blend it up with a liquid (used broth) since spinach has high lvl of Vitamin K & can help reduce my INR. Well, am still on liquid post op diet and pouch did NOT react well to all that Fiber.< span> Was in bathroom most of night. Ended up back at local hospital for IV treatment. Unsure if I will weigh soon after all the Fluid that was put in me. Finally home again.

I was supposed to have my surgery July 26 but it got pushed to August 1st. So I ride the line between those two months. Right now, I am 9 days post op. What was everyone’s pain level at this point? I’m still having pain between the incisions where they pulled the stomach and where they stapled the remaining part of my stomach to my rib. It’s pulling and burning anytime I engage my core. Is this normal? If so, when did it go away for you? Thanks!

Almost 2 weeks since sleeve, my weight has been stuck for 3 days now. How can it not move when I am only getting 400 cal. a day?

New_Me 2019

I’m about in the same place. I am on day 11 after surgery on 7/30.

I only lost a few pounds in the weeks leading up to surgery (probably because I hadn’t weighed myself and the week before my ‘shrink the liver’ started I was on a cruise and likely gained. But I went into surgery around 254 and am 246 this am. I’m surprised at the big numbers some folks have posted in their first week! Congrats to all of you!

I will say I feel incredibly bloated with Water though, so that may be playing a role.

My incisions are doing great and I’m able to walk about 45min or more a day, but wow is having to do all this drinking tedious. (The gas pains while consuming aren’t too fun, either.)

I’m looking forward/hoping to get to a new normal routine where everything doesn’t revolve around drinking/eating, but maybe that’s naive?

I had an RNY but I experienced similar sensations..pulling at my incisions especially the larger ones and I had a particularly deep/semi-constant burning pain on the 'right side' incisions - again..especially the larger one.

I did mention to Dr. @ post op visit and both he and his staff told me the burning sensations were a good sign? Healing, I guess? I had some other urgent issues we had to deal with so I didn't query them further about why specifically it was a good sign, but they definitely indicated that it was normal for my situation.

Whenever I engage my core...it would burn and tug. Am now 17 days post op and the tugging and burning have both stopped.

I have a decent pain tolerance but I had both gas/constipation and other abdominal aches that I address primarily by walking, taking Gas-Ex, ensuring I had semi-regular bowel movements..and a med , Robaxin, that my dr prescribes all his patients (for muscle spasms and light pain relief). I don't take it these days.

My friend who is a surgical tech said the burning and tugging by your ribs is because the muscle is thicker there so that's why it hurts more with a burning sensation. I've never heard anyone having their stomach stapled to their ribs. Though...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
