Day 6 Quote:

”I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our asses kicked. We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.”

~Brené Brown

Back home after a few days away. It was easy and I even had a few chips! I do have a rare talent, I can actually stop eating them after just a few. It helped that my family is pretty health conscious and active so we had grilled chicken, fresh fruit and salads at our fingertips.

Hitting the gym in a bit and I’m going to do the toning arm set today. @ms.sss I have been alternating the 2. Now that I am back on schedule I’m planning to do the tone ones on days I go to the gym every other day. It’s easier there for me because they have all the equipment.

Day 5:

  • (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done.
  • (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Self-imposed Rest Day to give my poor triceps a break!
  • Freedom: Couldn't figure out what to post for this so am inserting this awesome video from the 2007 VMA's when Alicia Keys did a cover of George Michael's Freedom...sooooo good (fast forward to the 3:10 mark to skip her singing No One)

Day 6:

  • (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done.
  • (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Done. Mr. saw me doing it just now and joined in on doing the dips and the pushups. I secretly want to be as fit as him and the Kid...may take a little while...
  • Quote: I actually first read this quote from a post in this very forum. I wish I remembered whose post I got it from though...

    “Do your best until you know better. And then, when you know better, DO BETTER”. - Maya Angelou

7/5 & 7/6:

Freedom- taking my children to Jamaica several years ago and enjoying every single day away from work

Quotes:

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring barque,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.”
― William Shakespeare, Great Sonnets

B-Side Question:

Where do you see yourself 1 year from now?

I will be 1 year shy of 60, cancer free for 9 years. Going to the gym 4 days a week and eating healthy will just be who I am and not a big deal.

I didn’t do arm challenge today, however I did go for a 4 mile walk. I’ll do extra tomorrow at the gym.

I’m to old for the term BFF. I’ve known my closest and dearest friend since 4th grade. We’ve been through elementary, middle & high school, college etc.. we even had kids 7 days apart one year. We don’t live in the same state and we don’t need to, although that would be nice. I’m really lucky to have found such a great person at such a young age. She’s coming to visit next weekend so I’m excited to see her. No pictures needed.

Day 7 (missed yesterday, just did now...will do today's later tonite):

  • (easy) Sleek Arms Challenge: Done.
  • (harder) Toned Arms Challenge: Done! Is it me, or are the dips getting less awful??
  • BFF's: skipping this one, the BFF's probably won't want their likenesses on a public forum. ♥️

Guest B-side question(s):

👠👠👠👠

I confess, I am a shoe (and purse) addict. How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many do you actually WEAR, lol? Post a pic of your fave pair...or the ones you are wearing right now...or the ones you plan on buying next..

Back from vacation :(

Weigh held steady. I was actually expecting to drop a bit with all the extra walking, but drinking everyday probably counteracted that. 🍺

I need to start doing some of the arm challenges!

Went to the gym this morning and did cardio followed up by a mash up of the arm exercises.

B-side. I have never been into shoes because I have such horrible feet! I would love to wear flip flops and sandals but I would just horrify people. I own about 20 pair. I wear 4 pair on a regular basis depending on the season. These are my newest in rotation. The Uggs are super comfy and I love the Navy espadrilles I got from Boden US. They feel a bit dressier than other ones I’ve had and they are super soft suede.

I’m pretty boring.

5 - Freedom

Freedom from all the excess weight has allowed me to enjoy my last few vacations to the fullest.

This last vacation I was able to zipline in the most amazing place, and not worry I was close to the upper weight limit. I was able to horseback ride without feeling like I was killing the poor horse. Not being self conscience of my weight just lifted this burden I didn't fully know I was carrying.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
