Last Minute Insurance Uncertainty - Very Stressed! X Post

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I'm really stressed. My insurance denied my DS surgery. My surgeon is appealing. She's very experienced with this and is tenacious. Surgeon wants me to keep attending pre-op classes/appointments and stay on the schedule for surgery June 14! (Insurance person at her practice says they will likely have an answer w/in 15 days).

While I hope I win the appeal, I have to ask: if I'm denied again will I be on the hook for the many doctor's visits, nutritionist, psychologist, pre-op testing, etc. that have led up to this?! Why don't docs confirm the insurance *first* before getting patients in the pipeline and giving what may be false hopes?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I used to work as a medical administrative assistant and CNA. Sometimes it took 2-3 times to get insurance to approve something for patients. Don't lose hope. I got you in my prayers and sending good vibes your way.

The dr visits are covered - they can consult and advise, it’s part of the required process to even submit to insurance they have to have all that info- it’s the actual surgery - mine was denied on first submission bc the exact language they wanted to see from the psychologist wasn’t there- he re-wrote it and it was approved quickly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
