B-Sides questions:
Do you eat or drink more when you are sick?
I have a Cold? Flu? Mix? Lol
Drink definitely! I love me some flat 7—up when I get sick. I go off coffee too (even though I only drink mostly Decaf these days)

I keep falling behind-- 17- hold myself back because I procrastinate everything!

18- I wanted to write a book...have started and stopped several times (see #17).

b-side ?-- drink more. FEEL BETTER!

B-side - Traditionally, I go for Soup when I'm sick and I crave popsicles then too...so I'm going to have to say fluids. I haven't had to address this post surgery yet.

DAY 18: Idea I'd like to Persue: Becoming a writer. I love to read and would love to write a book about nothing some day!

B-side question: drink more when I'm sick, then lay in the bed miserable all day!

Good morning- miserable- hit another stall since last Tuesday (that's two in less than 6 weeks) ...waaaaaaaah. Other than that great. Exercising a lot more and feeling good. how is your reflux- i saw another post you said you were having issues with it due to "lower quality" Water :)

Stalls are the worse... They test your sanity.

Reflux is low-level so not terrible. It is only from Water after all.

Hello hello! I'm doing well, although my weight keeps bouncing back and forth and I'm up today! Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

What am I grateful for today? I leave for a 5 day vacay starting tonight! So happy to be off work! Woo hoot!

It’s a mix depending on type of virus. Sometimes I’m ravenous and other times I can barely keep down small sips. I hope you’re feeling better soon 🥰

19) what I’ve made that I’m most proud of is a relatively happy home.

Honestly, I haven't made progress on the scale....but I'm at one of those weights that is an old set point. So, I'm working to out-stubborn the darn thing. But this week, I noticed my thighs seem to have done a bit of disappearing. I don't think the scale necessarily keeps up with all the rest of the activity going on with my body's changes.

19. I'm with DanaC84. I am proud that I've made my home my home. Also some of my artwork. Oh, and yes, some of my poetry.

19. I'm proud that I've taken a commitment to take care of myself not just physically but mentally and emotionally to. I found a therapist I love and see her once a week. I also go to the post-surgery group at my surgeon's office.

Also, update on my goal for the month. Now that I have the full fitness clearance I'm back on track with three workouts a week. Eventually, I'd like to work myself up to more.

20. One small thing that brings me joy...my dogs who aren't small but they always bring me joy.

B-side: I love the longer days, the warming weather, and seeing the things I've planted appear and be alive.

Yoga is hard to fit in...harder than I thought...but I do make it to the gym at least 6 days a week. On that note, I am going to do wide legged forward fold and maybe some Goddess before I unfold.

Good morning and evening ( ummyasmin & RoRoKitty) beautiful people!!!
How is everyone doing lately?

Awwwww good morning to you too gorgeous (to be fair, it's evening where I'm sitting). Don't you wish we had Star Trek transporters so we could beam over for a visit and a cuppa.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
