How r my Marchees doing?! I am approaching my surgery date on 3/11 n question myself everyday if this is the correct path? Not going to lie I’m shitting bricks! Surprisingly the preop diet isn’t that bad, I can’t wait to eat at dinner. How did u know the MGB/GBP was the right route vs the sleeve? My BMI is 33

So exciting, you’re surgery is around the corner! I hope that all goes well! I had my RNYGB this past Minday the 4th along with a hiatal hernia repair. My BMI is 45. The decision was made for me as my endoscopy indicated reflux and inflammation from acid which ruled me out from the sleeve. Surgery was smooth thank G-d and I went home the next day. Pain is definitely an issue but I know it’s temporary. I was most nervous about gas pain but I don’t have any, funny how we’re all so different. Good luck to you and check in after surgery!

HI, March buddies. I had my bypass on March 3 and am still in the hospital due to complications. My surgeon told me that everything had gone beautifully. However, I was in pretty severe pain a few hours later and it just kept getting worse. I figured it was just the gas pains everyone talks about and I'm just a wimp. They did a blood test at the following day thought I had an infection, and I had tachycardia, which made them suspect a leak in the pouch. Unfortunately, both were true.

I'm spending this entire week in the hospital. Tomorrow they will install a drain to remove as much of the infection as possible, and I'm also on liquid pain killers and antibiotics via the IV. Once the infection clears, they do a second operation to fix the leak. Two morals of the story: Leaks hurt like hell, and if you think something is not right, contact your doctor immediately!

i'm hoping this is just a temporary setback and that I'll be back on track in no time.

Best of luck to the rest of the February club!

Cher, so far so good. Still in the Hospital but being discharged in a couple hours. No issues so far. Gas pain isn’t as bad as I though. Pain in general is not as bad as I imagined but I am on serious nerve block drugs so I’ll report back when they wear off! 😁. Now I move on to the changing my whole mindset portion of this adventure. Feeling a little nervous about that but I know it’s just me being over anxious.

It's interesting to see how different surgeons have different diets both pre and post-op, yet we all successful in the end.
Now that I'm on liquids, the surgery is becoming quite real. My emotions range from terrified to excited to just wanting it to be over.
When is your surgery? Mine is on the 14th and I'm also on the liquid diet right now.

I had it last Monday, February 4. There were complications and it has been rough so far.

Hi - I had my sleeve done on 3/4. I had one night in the hospital and I’ve been home since yesterday afternoon. It’s going well so far. The gas/chest pains really sucked right after surgery but I was up walking around 3hrs after surgery so I guess that helped. I slept a lot in the hospital and just sipped the tiny cups of Water and tried to walk a lap every few hours. The pain the 2nd day was less chest and more incision pain but nothing close to the C-section pain that I had. So now at home I’m managing the pain well, trying to walk often and sit upright a lot and I’m sipping my water and Protein Shakes slowly but pretty constantly. I learned my lesson quickly when I tried to drink too much water the first day. I’m feeling good both mentally and physically!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
