March 2019 sleepers

Recommended Posts

My surgery was on March 13, 2019. It was supposed to be a month earlier but I caught the flu and the logistical setbacks kept rolling on from there. Now, thankfully, I’m 17 days post-op. I feel relatively good. Still a little sore. Struggling to get all my Protein and liquids in as I get accustomed to my new stomach. I have no regrets so far but I know the real challenges will come when I return to work overseas after surgery and recovery in the States.

After 1 wk post op, started my Proteins and Vitamins. I feel so much better. I’m still working on getting my Water in. But that Protein Shake hit the spot. I wasn’t able to finish it all but it was still better than just clears liquids.

Is anybody doing baby food? For their puree weeks?

I’m not. Lol My NUt said as long as I chewed to purée like consistency, I was good. I’ve had chicken salad and it went down fine! But mostly doing creamed Soups, mashed potatoes, that sort of thing.

I read that baby food isn’t ideal because of its high sugar content. I use a hand blender on most of my foods and it is working out ok.

I use baby food still even in the soft food stage! The squeeze pouches are so handy for on the go, and sugar isn’t an issue for the ones I have. I think they’re so yummy

Well my fellow March sleevers…. I was introduced to this thing called Constipation yesterday and it was a freaking nightmare. Thought I was going to end up in the ER as the pain was pretty bad, but after several concoctions of collace, Miralax, suppositories and enema things passed. I think I'll certainly keep a better eye on this one as not to go through that again.

Anyone else having constipation issues?

Hello There! I was sleeved on March 11th. I've now been in that dreaded week 3-4 stall... SO FRUSTRATING!

The diet my dieticians gave me doesn’t include a puréed food stage. I’ve gone from Clear Liquids to full liquids, and now in stage 3 I can have yogurt, pudding, and strained cream Soups. Oh, I can also have oatmeal. On Monday I’m allowed soft cooked Beans, vegetables, and low-fat cottage cheese. I’m overly excited about that because my biggest cravings are savory foods. All of these sweet shakes and drinks are driving me bonkers, and the packaged Protein soups are drab.

I had my sleeve done March 22 and so now I’m two weeks out. I initially lost 12 pounds - in the first week - but now I’ve hit a stall. I even put on a pound over this last week. I was feeling really discouraged but reading this thread and seeing people’s experiences and all the encouragement from everyone has been so helpful. I’ve noticed I’m shrinking, even if the scales aren’t moving, so just need to sit with this frustration. I too have had issues with constipation; a first for me and very annoying. Hope everyone is doing okay

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
