I have always had a terrible sweet tooth. Unfortunately that has not changed. What do you do to satisfy or curb your sweet tooth?

SF Fudgesicles - love 'em!

I think you'll have an advantage with a sweet tooth. So many of the Protein Drinks are sooooo sweet. You can also add vanilla or caramel Protein drinks to tea or coffee for a lovely, sweet latte.

Those of us who don't have so much of a sweet tooth tend to gag on the very sweet supplements.

Good luck!

WonderSlim chocolate Caramel Protein Shake / pudding - Bariatric Pal Cheesecake Protein shake / pudding

The wonderslim has become a good friend of mine. I love it for that sweetness especially when I'm craving chocolate, which isn't that often anymore.

And it must be engraved into my brain, but I'm a sucker for cheesecake anything - so when I found the pudding I was in 7th heaven (well at least my head was)... my belly doesn't care so much anymore.

I tend to crave more salty than sweet as of late... I keep a jar of mixed nuts everywhere...

I found the Cheesecake grainy, but I ❤ the Orange Creamsicle one. Maybe Cheesecake would have better if I had blended instead of shook. Might add some frozen blueberries,i have a 5 lb bag taking up a corner of my freezer.🍶

fruit, Beans and whole grains.

We're primates, not big cats. Eating heavy Protein and no carbs isn't just unhealthy for us, it's unnatural for us.

You have a sweet tooth because you're a great ape.

And as much self-denial as you want to inflict upon yourself, eventually your physiology will scream for carbs....because that's what your ape body was built to eat.

The trick is picking the right carbs that will satisfy you and keep your diet on track.

Fruit is high sugar, but it comes with Fiber and important phytonutrients you need. Whole grains, beans, lentils, brown rice... are an awesome source of plant protein that also give you a nice slow glycemic carb burn. They are "good" carbs that help keep your sugar cravings in check. They also grow spectacular colonies of gut microbiota found in the digestive systems of thinner people:)

Find alternatives that fit your diet and aren't super horrible for you. Like fruits for instance. I'm all about the "swaps" what item can you substituent for that craving that will satisfy the craving yet fall into your diet. This way you don't feel like you are missing out on anything because those cravings are all taken care of.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
