Hello everyone,

I am post-op Roux n y. 8 weeks out. I am having a very hard time finding foods that my stomach will handle. I can no longer eat eggs, tuna, and other mechanical softs.

I have been trying ground beef, Turkey, chicken, and it is not working.

Working i eat or drink.. feels like a concrete brick in my stomach.

I am at my wits ends ..and so tried of crying.

Can anyone please, give me some ideas of what to do?? I sm afraid of behing hospitalized from malnutrition and dehydration.

I think you should definitely reach out to your surgical team. If you cannot keep foods down there may be something else going on. You shouldn't wait until it's too late.

Have you tried going back to liquids/purees? Did you have issues then?

Have you spoken with your Surgeon? You could have a stricture that needs to be dealt with.

You are probably eating too fast. If I eat quickly and do not chew each bite 40 times, I feel like I swallowed a ball. Take your time and chew everything to almost liquid.

Thank you everyone for you thoughts. ❤

I have been in for my 3 month check up and have had anothe EGD done. They found that there was a small flap of scar tissue covering half the opening to the new attachment site of the intestines causing the pain as the food was passing through. They hv removed it and I am doing so much better now. I hv now lost 65lbs since surgery and 105lbs from the beginning Of this whole process. I'm so happy and much more healthy now.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
