December 2018 Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Quick update! Had my 3 month check up with my surgeon yesterday and my appointment with my cardiologist last week. Blood work was awesome and I got taken off of one of my cholesterol pills and my Vitamin D pills were reduced by over half from 5000 IU to 2000 IU.

Some quick stats:

Down 117 pounds total / 91 post surgery

BMI down 16 from 56 to 40

Inches Lost:

Neck - 1

Chest - 11

Waist - 7

Hips - 13

Crazy awesome ride. Hasn't always been easy or without it's hiccups but clearly one of the best decisions of my life! Just thought I'd share and nobody has posted on this thread in a while.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of or is considering going to the WLSF conference in Orlando in May.

To Brenttx— man, you are awesome. I’m almost 3 months out. Had surgery 12/26/18, and I’m excited about being down 40 lbs! A BIG WOW to you! (I’m old enuf to be your mom and have been overweight for 35 years, so I’m going a little slower, but exactly where my dr said I’d be! 🎉)

Hey guys,

I haven't checked in for while. I hope everyone's doing well. I know I am doing great. I am sticking with the modified Keto and exercise routine. The scale hasn't moved much in the past six week--only down about 5 or 6 pound. However, during that time I lost: 1.5% of my body fat (down to 16.5%); 1.5 inches off my waist; inch off my chest (down to 42 from a 50) and a quarter inch off my neck (down to 16.5" from 18.5" in the fall). My pants size is now a 32, down from a 44 this past summer. I have gone from wearing XXL shirts to M slim fit shirts (sometimes large slim depending on the brand). At this point, I am not really sure how much more weight I am going to be losing. I am ok where I am. Aside from the number on the scale, all of my aesthetic goals have been met (or are very close to being met).

More importantly, I just had my 3 month follow up last week. My blood work looks great. My triglycerides are down to a 54 (they were over 450 last summer). My good cholesterol is up three fold to 96. My A1C's have dropped from a 6.3 (with 1000mg of MetFormin and 1.8mg of Victoza) in November to a 5.1 with no medications. As of now, all my nutrional numbers look good and are well within normal ranges, including Vitamin D, B12, B6, Calcium, Iron etc. Of course, nutritional deficits can take a while to show up in blood work, so we'll see how they look again in three months.

So, far the only downside is that my once very thick hair is thinning a bit. Not loving that, but no one can really tell yet except me (hope it stays that way). I am taking my Biotin, but not sure how much it really helps (can't hurt though). I would still trade lush hair for a slim body any day.

Anyway, here's a picture from this past weekend (3/23/19):

That's awesome!!!! I am definitely not losing two pounds a week, so that's great! I would like to lose another 10, but that might take a few months. I am not sure I really need to really lose anymore, but I wanted cushion against regain. I am lean now and would love to get a six pack for the first time in my life. I think I have some loose skin that might make that difficult though--not sure if it's fat or skin. I wish I could afford a tummy tuck!!!

Feel like it's time for a status update, I haven't been on here regularly in a while and I need to keep my mindset focused on my goals.
I haven't weighed myself in ~ 3 weeks.  I think I'm becoming the opposite of "obsessive" about tracking my progress and it could cause me some issues.  The good thing is that there have still been quite a number of NSV's happening that is telling me that I'm still progressing without knowing what the scale says.
First one is that a belt I bought about 5 weeks ago because all my other belts were too big is also on the last hole so I'll have to buy yet another belt again.  second, I bought new jeans about a month ago and I have a lot more slack in the waist than I did when I purchased them.  I also boarded a plane and had about 8 inches of slack in the belt.  Finally, I hit my goal last week of being able to ride go-carts with my kids.  The last time I tried about 4 years ago, I had to leave because I couldn't fit in the harness.  This was sweet victory and I showed those two how it was done on the race course!!  😈

I just looked through all my old pants after my pre-op pants started getting to big. Keep in mind that I wear men's pants (usually cargos) because I am so tall 5'10"/5'11" ish. I also find that men's baggies tend to fit me better.
I started out at a 44 in waist pant and quickly found that I was back down to my 42's. So even when thise got to be too big, I had to start pulling old clothes out of storage. After finding my 38's, I thought that these would not yet fit, but when I tried them on, they fit perfectly. I also found some older pants that now fit better than I remembered. What a relief! It's not like I can pop down to the store like I could do in the US and the styles here in Sweden are all skinnt jeans which I cant stand. I also found some 36's, but I'm not mentally ready to try those on yet. The biggest challenge will be buying women's clothing again.

slow and steady wins the race.  don't get discouraged and just keep at it. Let your sleeve do its job and try not to stress yourself out.
hope you are all having a great summer and enjoying what your sleeve has given you.
just got back from a wedding in OR. and man am i afraid to get on the scale

Great reminder about how fast you can lose weight. The mind games we play with ourselves are the worst.
