So man. What a day! Surgery went text book according to surgeon. I was on the table for 55min. He told me it was obvious that I had rocked the preop diet, as he could have likely done the surgery without a liver retractor.

I was in recover for about 2 hours because I kept going apneic on the pain meds, so they had to keep the doses low, which sucked.

Once I got back to the room, and got on my personal CPAP machine things progressed much better. I’m on icechips only until tomorrow morning. Let me tell yah. The dry mouth is no joke! I did 10 laps around the floor I’m on 1 hour after arriving to my room. Since then I’ve done between 8-15 laps every hour I was awake. (I slept for a few hours) All the people that told you walking is the only thing that helps gas pain? Listen to them!

I’ve attached a pic of my ugly mug after walking the floor for 15 laps.

Best wishes to everyone! I’ll update when They advance my diet.

CONGRATS!!! Yeah, the dry mouth was a surprise. I didn't get ice chips, but they did allow me to rinse with Water. The next surprise was the heart burn. Congrats again and happy sipping!!!

Wow, good luck to you guys that have surgery tomorrow. That's exciting stuff. I am on my third day of my 14 day pre-op diet. This is not easy. I am suppose to have 5 Protein Shakes a day and then I am limited to sugar free Jello, plain yogurt, broth etc. I don't know how I am going to do this for 11 more days! I already "cheated" twice---with hard boiled eggs. Not technically on the diet, but they have no carbs and lots of Protein and at least it's something to chew!!!

My liquid diet was the worst. My doctor gives the new direction diet which is basically powdered protein/soup and bars to have for the 2 weeks. Disgusting. I was to try to stick with that and if i needed have a small piece of chicken along with the Jello and broth and such. I cant wait to start being able to eat again. I'm looking forward to 2 days post op when i can have a yogurt.

I am allowed yogurt at least, but plain. I added a little salt, parsley, chopped onion and garlic to it for flavor. It wasn't bad, but I miss chewing. :)

Well, there are about 10g of fat and 12g of Protein in two eggs (0 carbs). If you skip the yolk and only have the whites, there almost no fat and it's pretty much pure protein. I can't see how egg whites wouldn't be on the pre-op diet (as long as you don't cook them in anything that adds fat or calories)--hence hard boiled egg whites. I think some of these guidelines they come up with a general rules intended for "uneducated" patients that don't know the difference between having a hard boiled egg white and cheese omelette fried in butter. I like Premier shakes just fine, but how can a processed chemical protein mix be preferable to natural pure, egg whites???

Think theres an element of getting you used to the fact you can have absolutely nothing solid post-op though tbh. Nutritionally they are perfect and ideal for the purpose of liver shrinkage but mentally doesn't help you for the post-op part. But in the end of the day was just 2 eggs :D

Hi guys, I had my lap band removed this Wednesday and scheduled for the sleeve on December 17th!

That was my date but rescheduled because my apartment isn't ready yet and currently I'm in a 4 story walk up apt. My new apt has an elevator. Good Luck

I’m being naughty and skipping the company Holiday Party tomorrow... too much food temptation while on this 1000K pre-op diet. I start liquids on Sunday, which I am nervous about as an ovo-lacto Vegeterian. I only have 3 full days of that to get through prior to my surgery on Dec 12th. Any suggestions?

I will be on Clear Liquids the day before surgery also. I'm chugging along now with my shakes and broths etc. Hoping that last day of clears will pass quickly!!! I'll try to stay busy at work!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
