Drink sitting up or standing up. It goes down easier

Hello paddyski,

I am feeling MUCH better. Thank you for asking.

Yesterday was a significant improvement for me. It was my first day that I was able to go for a short walk (only the length of 5 neighbor houses and back) but a start. Baby steps. It was a beautiful day (mid-60s) so when we returned I sat in my rocker outside for about 3 hours and watched my family clean gutters and work around the yard. It was such a blessing to get the Vitamin D and just be outside. I figured I was still following quarantine orders since I was not interacting with anyone.

I am finding it a little difficult to get all my liquid and Protein in on some days, for the most part I'm good. I have to take my antibiotic treatment for the c. diff every 6 hours, so that requires me waking up constantly. If I have a hard time falling back asleep, it has effect a few days where I don't even start eating (drinking) my protein until 10:20am and at that point it's very hard to get it all in during the day. I've made a conscious effort to wake up by 7:30am no matter how tired I am and begin my fluids/protein and just take naps along the way. I know once I complete the antibiotics (Thanksgiving day) it will be a huge improvement in my sleep, which of course will help with my healing.

Surgery scheduled at noon tomorrow. My dr only uses a 4 day diet prep, have lost about 5 lbs so far. Suppose everyone goes through second thoughts about what they are giving up. For me, it is my only choice so I’m plowing on. Let’s do this.

Was doing research on what to take to the hospital and one article said that you will have extreme gas and it will smell bad and if you will have lots of guests, to take a room deodorizer. Brilliant. Good use for that poo-poo spray someone gave me in the white elephant exchange last year.

Yes! I went and followed you on here, because I saw we were in the same starting weight range. :)

Not gonna lie. The day-of and the day-after I was pretty miserable. Sore where my stomach is and near the incision sites, but the worst part was having LOTS of gas pains in my back! I started taking the powdered mirolax in some flavored water the day after surgery, and chewed up a few gas-x pills, and that seemed to help a lot. Take the Tylenol with codeine or whatever it is they give you!! I only needed it for 3 days, but it did help a TON!

By 3-4 days out, i'm feeling like myself again. It's an adjustment getting used to sipping liquids. It took me a couple of days to figure out my limit; more than 2 small sips at a time and it hurts. My wife picked up some warm beef pho broth today and it's going down just fine. The Protein Shakes I liked before surgery taste nasty now, so I've got to figure out if there's something else that does taste good.

Try not to stress. It's a short surgery, and will be over before you know it. You'll do great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
